Panzers: I break rocks thread

lol I need to make the 75,000 before I can spend it :lmao: Meaning I need to pay off my winter repairs and hopefully be able to cover the fuel bills this summer before I can spend money on stuff like that lol. Thankfully we are back in selling season in 60-90 days I’ll be sitting ok again:lmao: :homer:
That's net 30 money, by the time they are billing you it's money making season
:homer: And you aren't even paying attention.

I was curious if you made a fuel contract over winter and if you're exercising it
I did not sadly. :homer: Historical locking in fuel prices have resulted in paying more for fuel than saving money. So I don’t do it and just pay for it off the pump ;(. If I had some insider trading like the congrescritters do I could have made out ;(

Thank the lord it’s Friday. Been a complete **** show so far today.

2 truck got loaded with the wrong crap cause the drivers are ******ed. 1 truck drove down my new ramp ignoring the wheel ruts going the other direction burying it up to the fuel tanks in the last 20’ feet of the ramp. So I have to pull him out and back up the ramp. Then the boys seen they had a bearing go out on a conveyor on the cone crusher. Thankfully I have one so that should be a Quick fix. One of my loader operators headed off to the walk in because his neck hurts not work related thank the lord. Just wanted to get out of loading trucks for a few hours this morning. Then one of the conveyors started shutting off randomly on the big screen plant ….. all while there are 16 trucks hauling out of my pits…

All this before 8:00 in the morning :homer:

Yesterday one dumbfuck truck driver backed into another one by my scale and smashed the **** out of the radiator charge air cooler ac condenser out of another guys truck. Every day is a complete cluster **** mostly stemming from truck drivers and their stupidity. Thank the baby Jesus it’s Friday and I’ll get to decompress a bit over the weekend

Hopefully I’ll get to fixing that ramp so it doesn’t turn into the ****** magnet.

I had to pull the same truck, out of the same spot, 3 times in the same day. And every time he got outta the truck, he looked surprised that he got stuck again

I really wonder how 80% of them actually make it through life and not forget to breath. Now there are some that absolutely knock it out of the park but these days they are a rare sight.

To be fair, It did look like a great spot to turn around. But I'd been loosing a ton of sand over there. So I'll give him a pass on the first one. Those other 2 are on him though

Building road was always interesting. They'd hire town drivers, and put em on the side of a mountain on a logging road that aint a road yet:homer: Always entertaining thats for sure

I remember when the drivers all had a little tool bag in the cab and would adjust their brakes, change a light bulb, fix a small air leak, etc. Those days are long gone.
Yeah, you just get a blank stare if you even mention caging brakes to a driver these days. I carry a couple extra bolts in case they're missing from the cylinder.

Had to fix one end of one of the screws on that sand screw we have been working on . The stub shaft that the lower bearing runs on bolts to the end of the screw. Well at one point in the last 50 years it came loose and wobbled itself out. The guys who were running it tightened it back up and welded on.

To get the screws out of the machine we had to cut the weld to get the stub shaft off. So it need to get dolled up for when it goes back together.

I tossed the stub shaft into the lathe and got it all squared back up. So nice having a big swing lathe!!!! I put a bead of weld around where we cut it off to make it look semi nice again.

Then I decided to **** can the end of the screw and make a new one. I cut a 13.5” circle blank out of 1” plate on my plasma table .

Tossed it on the lathe and started cutting away .

Only ****ty part of buying a bigger lathe is now having to get bigger measuring tools.

I bought this on to inspect a few of my cone crushers bearings. 12-18” I believe. Definitely awkward to hold and get a precise measurement.

Once it was turned down drilled and tapped some holes

Then welded her back on. Good as new again!

This week I also had to replace a rod for my brothers conveyor truck.
IMG_2862.jpeg

Had a deep gouge in the chrome. A $82 stick of chrome rod and we were off to the races. A quick turn, thread and weld and she is good as new again.

Screw that filling gouges in with epoxy. It’s easier just to replace the shaft.

Update to the hard surface on the cone liner. This picture we had 5 days of running on it!!! Had about 7500 ton of rock ran through it!! Definitely think it helps the wear life. The work that it has done already covered the wire and time spent to weld it up!

IMG_2828.jpeg

The theory is the hard surface protects the manganese long enough until it can get work hardened. The manganese liners are soft until they get pounded on enough to get hard. The problem is my stone is so abrasive it wears quite a bit off before it has a chance to work harden fully.

Also finally got my genset trailer done enough to use!!

Doesn’t look like much from the outside but she is awesome!!

The halfassed old air tank muffler works good.

The engine room when running full tilt is at 111db

With the door closed to the electric panel room.

It’s at 84db

I did spray foam the wall that separates the engine from the electrical box room. That is what really quieted it down.

The switch gear.

The tool parts room

Now I just need to get the tool boxes filled with tools. This year anytime anything dies I’m gonna buy 2x to toss a spare in here. V belts bearings ect. Then next winter we can figure out storage for all the **** that collects in there.

Crusher had to run hard this week to get everything all made up for this guy who moved in next door.
IMG_2894.jpeg

These guys don’t **** around. It left where it was sitting Thursday morning about 2 hours away and by Friday afternoon it was ready to run. They will calibrate it next week and by Wednesday they will be making asphalt full tilt.!!!

I need to build a cylinder bench. Went out to the shop and seen this. Another leaky one :homer:

IMG_2902.jpeg

Just for scale that chrome rod is approximately 6” in diameter.

This is what I want to build. I have the parts for the nutbuster all cut out. Need to work on the 24’ table. I have a cylinder that is 150” long closed that I will use to pull and install the rods into the barrel. 10’ of stroke should be enough for the longest cylinders I own.
