Must have M-18 tools

To anyone on the fence about getting it...It's pretty badass with an HO8.0 in it. I wouldn't expect to use it cutting firewood all day, but for general chainsaw stuff, I like it.
I agree. For making a few cuts, it's fine. but expect to have a line of charged batteries ready to go if you're going to be there for 30 minutes cutting.

I've been using an M18 for processing wood bowl blanks (and firewood) in my back yard, this fall when I do it again I'm going to pick up a corded saw, the M18 just eats batteries, and I've killed a few as well. Probably running the saw too hard, the batteries will get hot.

My 12.0 lasts a long time in my chainsaw. I killed the 12.0 and a 8.0 cutting up an oak tree for smoking wood. I was pretty much done with cutting wood after that. If you are using a 6.0 or smaller, it’ll chew them quick though.

Yeah, it performs the duty you'd normally (appropriately) use a top-handle gas saw for; if you want to buck logs with it or any other top handle for hours on end, you're using the wrong tool for the job; but will eventually complete the task albeit much less efficiently than the correct tool would.

I really like the top handle saw, but 9 times out of 10 I find myself grabbing the Hatchet ( mine wears a 12" lp bar) for most light trail clearing/ brush cutting tasks that it's bar will handle because its easier to toss on the passenger floorboard/ behind the seat in the truck and/or hang from a clip on the tractor ROPS or chipper body.

A scabbard mount for the top handle could equalize this but that's another 80-200bucks to achieve

The hatchet's also on sale for 199 currently without any BOGO sale hacking required:

That hatchet is kinda a joke for wood IMO. Makes a badass box cutter though
It's not really for wood more like for branches and pruning and it works great for that.

Anyone want to purchase 2 new sealed in blister pack Forge 12.0's for $330 plus shipping? Dates May of 25 and April of 25 manufacturing dates. Delete if wrong thread I just wanted some fellow M18 junkie to score these. I bought 4 off a guy on Facebook and kept two of them.

I have the hatchet and it seems to last all day with a forge 12.0. Curious how the new saw will compare with an 14” bar.

Can confirm the $230 top handle, get with the times :flipoff2:
Mine seems to last as long as I need it for trail clearing on an 8.0 Forge. I haven't climbed and brushed out a tree with it yet though, that'll be the true test on battery life.

Portaband decided to be a ****. Get 4 flashes off the light when you pull the trigger an thats it.

Seems to be the month for things to crap out on me :homer:

My M12 portaband does that alot, but I figured it was because my batteries were old. I got a few new ones, and they don't seem to do that. it might just be real sensitive to the battery 'health' or whatever.

I do hate how often I kill batteries, they are so ****ing expensive. I use air tools when I'm working in my carport. Have only killed one compressor pump in 15 years :lmao:

I dont really go through batteries and I use em everyday lol.

I tried a few different batteries with no change.

Will poke around a bit more when I get time. Really like that thing, though I do wish it had a bigger cutting capacity.

Are the battery contacts worn down? I have an old Gen 1 1/2" impact that I have to twist the contacts a little sometimes because they're worn really thin.

Still CCW rotation? I have an EGO because it turns the right way for a right handed person to cut along a sidewalk or tombstone walking forward. Conventional is way better than climbing in string trimmers for the application IMO

My neighbor has one of these die grinders that we've been using on one of his cars at his place, I love my airtools and AirCat diegrinders, but I can't take them anywhere except my carport/garage. I figured it would be nice to have something I can toss in the jeep and take with me, or use over at the greenhouse or in the back yard. It's big and heavy compaired to the aircats, but hard to beat the portability..

Will see how often I grab it when I'm in my carport versus the air tools. my guess is not often, but we'll see :D

Do you know if it's a first Gen or a second Gen? That is one of the last electric tools I need to get to be completely cordless sans an air hammer.

beg to differ, Ive cut down actual trees with it, a solid 10" diameter Not a full size chainsaw, but to call it a box cutter is silly, this thing is one of my favs

I use mine to cut up cardboard all the time. Its badass for that. So yes in my case I'll call it a box cutter.
