Picked up this thing.

Got it for cheap in a partial trade.

454 built with a cam, heads, headers, intake, Holley carb etc.

It’s been sitting for a few years but got it started pretty quick.

Starts no problem and idles but dies on throttle. I’m guessing accelerator pump. Don’t have much experience with carbs.

Got the carb rebuilt kit in yesterday. That should get it running good again.

Tore all the carpet out and found a couple rust spots but mostly in decent shape.

Where’s the Bible on these things?

Looking for a flexy leaf spring set that won’t break the bank. Found a couple different shock re-locator kits.

If you find a decent “flexy”!spring kit post about it. I currently going through my 1950 jeepster that’s on a 1970 blazer chassis.

It's definitely a 44. Doesn't have the 10 bolt ears.

Side note that has the nicest plug wire routing I have ever seen on something in this condition.

Honestly an off the shelf 2 or 4 inch lift spring works very well and will get you a lot of travel for the money. I'd be looking at ORD.

If you are looking more like a chopped up trail truck I think a lot of guys run 52s which require a little modding to make work.

Either way you will be into crossover steering and a longer driveshaft to make it work. I ran 4" ORD springs and the stock push pull steering didn't work while flexed so it's big jump money wise.

How much of a pain is it getting 16” tires?

Found these. Can probably get them for 500$. Not gonna be on the road.

Found some 40’s for cheap but they are 17’s. So I’d have to find new rims also.

Got new wheels and tires so they are all the same finally. 🤣

Transmission has a leak. Anyone know what the box is that it’s leaking from?

Appears to be a thm400 transmission
Pans beat to **** and need a cover for the torque converter.

Carb was shot and my buddy rebuilt it. Didn’t fix anything so I ordered a new edelbrock 750 performer.

That is your modulator which has some o-rings on it. Usually just replace the whole assembly.

But...

The TH400 usually has a vacuum modulator but looks like you have a cable modulator which is usually a diesel thing. I think the HMMWV also uses them. Not sure why a gas engine would have it. So be careful when you look your parts up.

Here’s a better picture. Looks like it’s just blocked off.

The linkage is for the transfer case.

Strange

It would shift like a **********er without a modulator. It also would only go up to a higher gear at WOT near redline. So I'm not sure what you have going on.l

Also if it was a block off plate I'd imagine it would be a small plug since the modulator goes into a blank hole and sealed with o-rings. Then it has a hold down tab on the outside held by a bolt.

Weird...

Got it solved. Looks like a custom governor cover that uses the cover as a pivot point for the transfer case linkage.

Got it running mostly good. Need to figure out the hack job of a fuel system. Looks like it only pulls from drivers side tank.

Leaks from the switcher valve after it’s shut down. Pump never shuts off.

Timings a bit off but the vacuum lines need to be fixed and the choke isn’t wired in yet.

Got new 1/0 battery cables and a mini starter installed. Fires up stupid fast.

Thinking of tearing off the bed and just going truggy. 🤷🏼

PRP bench seat should be finished soon so I gotta mount that. Thanks Austin!
