What's new

1984 K20 Dana 60 swap and suspension

I've got it in the furthest forward position but I also just slapped the springs I got from you on without thinking. I need to drop the rear springs and see if they're shorter. That would make sense because it wouldn't even come close without being on the furthest forward hole.

They're equal length from bushing eye to pin so I don't think it'll make a huge difference and honestly I'm too stupid to tell the front from the back.

Also realized that the truck might end up with some Carolina squat if I use the rear springs I've got on the front. That's unacceptable but I can fix that later on. I just want it to be rollable again.

I could be wrong, my dumb ass also measured the springs I got from stucky and had it in my head they were 52's and they're definitely 56's.

Well fuck a duck, I've got 56's on the rear too so I'm stuck until I can find a pair of half ton rear springs. I might break down and order brand new, there's a place a few hours from me that's only around $100 a spring.

Got the drivers rear off the frame, more air hammering for 30 seconds and waiting 3 minutes for my compressor to catch up.

I was thinking you were looking for 56's and he said he had springs for sale but maybe he had 52's for the front lol.. yeah people have used 56's up front but need different mount than the 52s.

I knew what I had haha. Those are the stock rear springs from FunK20.

For the front, I used k5 rear 52s, with the overload taken out. Unless you have a truck available to pull them, I’d probably just order new if you can afford it.

I thought you had broken rear springs, why you had gotten these. Honestly , I’m kinda surprised you got the bolts in. That must have been a struggle.

I do have a broken rear spring, my dumbass has left this alone so long that I lost track of what I had going on. The bolts slid right in with a little bit of grease, just used a jack under the leaf spring to get it positioned. I can't really afford new but my FB feeler post in the squarebody groups isn't going anywhere so I'll probably go that route.

For now I'll try to get the rear done and get the axle slid underneath it and budget for front springs. Autocross is taking a lot of my time and money but it's too damn fun to quit.

2nd place run from Sunday.

Going to just order some new springs from a place down in St. Louis to save the hassle of driving all over trying to find some.

Driver's side is on with the longer shackles I have. Everything is loose and I'm not sure if that angle is gonna work out but I guess I'll see once I get the other side mounted up and the axle slid underneath.

Got the shit knocked off the passengers side but haven't gone to source more hardware to stick on the new stuff. Will probably work on that next week after payday.

I ran 56's all around, my favorite set up. Super soft and flexy. That said, yup they hit the frame on the shackle at bump. 52's will allow you to move the wheelbase, and axle forward. There is a ton of tech on these on ck5.com
