I would say it's good. I use a notcher and bevel everything.

Au contrair, XJs are excellent wheelers. But the one I rode up Surprise canyon in wouldn't let us open or close the doors unless it wasn't under suspension stress. It sagged in the middle.
 
Capped the rear doors with some sheet metal. Also made the hinges removable and added a waterproof connector.

This is the plan for the rear. Just needed the doors installed for clearance check on the quarter panel/ rear fenders before I start cutting tube.

Stock doors as I have power windows, locks, heat and AC:flipoff2:

Planning on a set of full tube doors but I want to get the damn thing done first! I have 21 sticks of tube in the garage I need to make into something :usa:

Yeah, I don't care for the chips. It's nice for sure and was very cheap/ easy to do. Just make sure you lay a fiberglass blanket over it when welding:lmao:
 
I got some mastercraft cheapo seats. Figured it was easier than trying to keep rear bench seats.

Was a challenge to keep the driver seat close to oem height as possible. I had ro raise it 1.5" to clear the tcase sheet metal.

Made the rear seat mounts out of some tube and 1/4 plate on the oem sheet metal and also tied into the sliders.

Cruisin along. You couldn’t have massaged the shape of the tcase tunnel to keep the seats lower? How tall are you? I’m worried about that when I get to installing my setup. I think there’s probably only 1.5” between my head and roof now stock haha
 
I'm short 5'9" and have a fist of headroom. You can make it closer to oem with the d300. The np205 is about 2x in size and 3x heavier than the d300.
 
It pains me to say this because I know how it feels to hear it. Especially with how badass this work is.




















After all this work, it’s still going to be a Cherokee. :flipoff2:
 
Got the rear crossmember in and belly skid plate. It's flat AF minus the link mounts:smokin: still need to make the trans/oil pan skid plate but I will probably get it driving first.

Made some shifters for the doubler/ tcase. Also disassembled and sealed both of them with some b1/2 and replaced the trans output seal for good measure. I don't want to be taking this thing out again if I don't have too:lmao:

Got the axles painted and fully assembled a while ago but don't think I posted it. Need to do fuel/brake lines on the chassis side and should have this thing driving soon. Exo cage and paint are still big items left to do as well. Hoping to have it done before October for the midwest wheelin week with KungFooMASTA
