What's your favorite drinking whiskey? Not shooter or mixer

For sipping whiskey, I’m a fan of a smooth, well-aged bourbon. I was just revisiting an old post about favorite whiskeys and remembered a recent experience with some great wine from qkawine.com. Although it’s wine and not whiskey, it was a highlight of a get-together with friends. We enjoyed a well-aged red that sparked some fantastic conversations and made the evening memorable. It’s funny how a good bottle—whether whiskey or wine—can elevate a casual hangout.

Monkey Shoulder. Neat. Absolute best Scotch for the money.

I'd put it up against a lot of single malts in a blind taste test.

Has anyone tried bib & tucker? I’ve seen a few ads and am wondering how it is

I was gifted a bottle of the 10yr last Christmas. It had strong caramel and had great mouth feel. I tried the 6yr previously and did not care that much for it, just not a strong enough flavor profile. For $50/bottle I would elsewhere first.

The company my wife works for just picked up distribution on this and they sent a sample for her to do an online tasting with her AE's. There may have been some left that I was able to try, quite good. I love strong peaty islay's like Lagavulin, but the peat flavor as a background note and smooth flavor on this are nice. It's like a highland with a note of peat which is kind of cool.

I'll agree with the others on the every day stuff, 1792, Elijah, Makers is ok, Buffalo Trace.

If I want something higher end, I love George Dickel anything over 10 years.

For anyone recommending Buffalo Trace or Makers, try Benchmark 8. it's made by the same distiller and is 1/3 the price. It is my go to for an everyday drink on ice. If i'm after something a little nicer, i've enjoyed 4 Roses single barrel.

Wifey and I refer to them as "swamp fire" . I like them, she likes rye and high rye bourbons. She does not like swamp fire.

Laphroaig 10yr sherry oak is a staple on the whisky (and whiskey) table.

I'm also a big rye whiskey fan like your wife though, any number of go to's there.

I've got the Benchmark here. 80 proof, really easy to drink but not much in the way of flavors. I think it may be my party go to. Long night with a glass in your hand.

You guys ever mix anything in aside from soda? I’m drinking straight with ice. Guy at work does fresh lemon juice and water.

I’m thinking cold and flu season adding some local raw honey in.

99% of the time I just drop in a big ice cube but, I still enjoy the occasional sour or old fashion. Usually not going to go through the trouble of making cocktails unless we are having friends over for dinner.
