What's your favorite drinking whiskey? Not shooter or mixer

Yamakazi and Suntory. Surprisingly excellent, very smooth. Not cheap. Costco carries the Lower line Suntory, its about $38/L

Is this stuff any good

it wouldn't be something that would attract me. I don't like sugar in whiskey for a variety of reasons, and the syrup could be masking a lower grade of whiskey (why if you order a jack and coke at a bar, it is kind of wasting decent booze, you could just use the house and coke and get the same result.)

But, if you like it, go for it.

Jack and Coke is delicious. Can’t use different whiskey, and can’t substitute the Coke either.

I usually drink beer but I picked up a bottle of 4 roses single barrel recently. Pretty good taste to it but would like something with a little less octane since im a light weight. Any suggestions?

Garrison Bros
Buffalo Trace
Larceny

I don’t have a favorite, but those are pretty high on my list.

I'm surprised I only noticed one recommendation for Redbreast.

That is my celebration drink for any occasion. a little $$ for every weekend, but certainly worth the cost occasionally.

I have an unopened bottle of 21 I will open at Christmas this year...

In a word, no.

You have good taste, Redbreast and I have been friends for many years. Lately its been Teeling small batch and when I'm feeling uppity Conemara peated. Teeling has a peated but I haven't tried it yet, Oh, a bottle of twenty one? have a glass today, do not wait, its worth rushing,

Do you lean towards sweet drinks? Otherwise try cutting with lemonade or cranberry juice And some club sofa.

Rum, I like Diplomatico, Brugal 1888, Kraken sometimes. Try some straight then add a few drops of water and try again. (No more than a teaspoon per ounce.)

Been hankering some nice scotch. I would probably go with the Lagavulin 16. Damn pictures off google aren't playing nice tonight.

I never developed a taste for whiskey. Which might be a good thing, rum and tequila have gotten me in enough trouble over the years 😉

There is a time and a place for everything. Ya cant say " Hold my whiskey"

I beg to differ on that front.

I have handed off a mug of rye and coke more than once in order to prove a point.

"Fuck you! Hold this and get the fawk outta my way."

My wife is a Kentucky girl so we do bourbon tastings at our annual Derby party. It is surprising what you will like when you have them side by side. For me there are three noticeable tiers - battery acid nasty, typically the cheap stuff on the right side, good stuff that is decent mixing not as enjoyable straight, Knob Creek and Makers and smooth like Woodford Reserve. We haven't gotten into the Lagavulin 16 yet. There is another shelf of the Jim Beam flavored stuff

VOYAGE 24

voyage-24-card.jpg

The driving force behind OCEAN Voyage 24 was to introduce a New Experiment to the Jefferson’s OCEAN franchise. On all other voyages, the bourbon traveled across the equator several times, experienced hot and cold weather in the North Atlantic and South Pacific and seas that ranged from calm to violent. The OCEAN Voyage 24 Experiment would test the effect of high heat, all the time. OCEAN Voyage 24 spent all of its time at sea in the Caribbean where the air temperatures were always hot. The containers on board served as “Heat Ovens” as the bourbon visited exotic ports of call throughout the Caribbean and Central America. Throughout the voyage, the humidity was tropical and the average temperature inside the containers was 93.82° F, reaching a maximum of 124.52° F.

Storm activity in the Caribbean started earlier than normal, went dormant for a while then came back strong with eight named tropical depressions thus far. Storm Elsa crossed our path but all other activity passed to the north or west of the course. The waters surrounding Voyage 24 were for the most part quiet but, the sea is never still. The constant motion of the water, tropical humidity and high heat encountered during the Voyage 24 experiment has resulted in a bourbon that is both unique and exotic. Caramelization and enhanced tones of vanilla extracted from the wood give it a sweet taste, mellow pallet and laid back finish. We are thrilled with how the OCEAN Voyage 24 experiment turned out and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Pour a glass and enjoy OCEAN Caribbean style.
