What's new

What did you do for your ford today?

finally got a chance to look at 1 of the issues with the wifes aught-six escape hybrid. dash says "stop safely now" and it shut down on her a couple times. Downloaded Forscan and bought one of their recommended USB readers. Pretty neat program, super late to the party but dang. didn't know there was a free for windows version.

anyways, all those messages are related to the Hybrid Battery Pack. According to the internet it is a fan or cooling issue. Turns out our is related to low battery voltage. Not sure what the proper state of charge is, but it is at 53% currently. Used Forscan to force a battery rebalance. I'm curious to see if it comes back with the issue.

so yeah, forscan is neat stuff.

Had a buddy help me weld up some adapters for my 2 post lift, now the frame is clear for the rancho extended radius arms

Pulled the cover off the E350 motorhome yesterday. Almost a year in storage and it fired right up. Finally found a shop to do the alignment, got that done today :smokin:

Hopefully it will stop eating tires now. That'd be neat.

Discovered someone makes removable door hinge pins:

Going to procure two sets for easier door removal.:smokin:😎

Easy door removal?

Rust, time and gravity seems to work fine for me :flipoff2:

No clue how the glass survived, bottom step is a bit soft and has been since purchase, set screw is missing on the hex bit up top. I think I can find a round tuit tomorrow.

Welded a piece of angle under/across the front of the step. Bent some galvanized sheet to cover the gap inside at the riser.

Up in the opener compartment I found a door height adjustment bolt that was just sitting in the hole. Had it still been tight the door wouldn’t have fallen, lower support or not.

Been driving the Bronco with Saginaw PS pump for 3 weeks now.

The biggest take-away so far is steering in silence; stopped/parked or driving, it's quiet while steering!
It's rather awkward after 20 years of being used to hearing the whine.

Can't judge steering quality yet because the Bronco is beyond-overdue for a front end alignment.

I'm going to start hunting for a complete tailgate for my '94 Bronco.
Has anyone removed one from a JY?

At home I can remove one at my leisure/at my own pace.

Is there an ideal specific method in removing one in order to be time sufficient?

I got a little more time in on the Bronco. Got the front axle disconnected enough to slide forward. Removed the radius arms and found the witness marks on the bushings that we’re giving a harsh ride.

67 Bronco :
  • reset timing and idle mixture trying to track down a popping/backfiring issue through the carb (see new thread)
  • the rear brakes lock up before the fronts, found I did clearance the knuckle for the disc brake conversion. made a huge difference but I think I still need to service the rear drums (if they're not original they're at least 15 years old).

78 F150:
- have a thread about belt wearing/squealing.. it was pointed out that my crank pulley has three different diameters, my water pump pulley has the same diameters on its two grooves which means they were fighting each other. New crank pulley is on the way.

Some before and after of the knuckle clearance:

Reinstalled the rear window:

I had completely gutted the tailgate two years ago because everything was rusted out.
So it's just a shell/hole with a rusted out bottom tailgate.

Apparently I'm doing batteries.

About half way to the dog park the radio got fuzzy and cut out. It's an ancient pos so no great surprise there. Go to leave and nothing, not even a click. All fuses good. Have it towed home, battery voltage is .8V...... Guess one shorted internally and ran them both flat. Hopefully nothing else cooked. Just glad nothing exploded. Blown up batteries make a fucking horrible mess.

Manufacturing date on the batteries is 10/18. Almost made it 5 years.

Successfully installed a new window crank handle in the 1993 E350. T15 screw head.

It took me 3 years to get to it, but i'm now up to 1/4 projects this week that has gone as planned :rasta:

Instead of working on troubleshooting a pop at the carb during light load acceleration I put some “new” doors in with window frames (and they’re in much better shape)..

I like windows. I daily drove early Broncos quite a lot, some long commutes.. and I’ve been stung by bees and wasps a handful of times in traffic, have driven through a bee swarm on the freeway, and twice had bee swarms fly over me while stuck in an intersection.. but only ever when I was driving a Bronco. I also didn’t want to hear the crying when my gf has the same experience and doesn’t have windows to roll up :flipoff2:

I know they aren’t completely shut out, but it can make a difference
