Verbally abusive co-worker, HR fun

I'm glad I work offshore internationally. I get a email asking if I'm available for work. If I say yes, I get a contract sent to me to sign, followed by airline tickets.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a good fit for any kind of office setting.
What do you do? Oil platforms?

I had one of those in the Service Dept at the Dodge dealership. Always had to be careful what you said around here and only make the cleanest jokes. Anything that could be used against you would be. Eventually she over estimated her value and mouthed off to her boss and got canned.

Not just protected classes. We’ve had 2 toxic white dudes we had to get rid of. It took way more effort to build the case against them than it should. Lost good employees because of them while all the paperwork was assembled. :shaking:
Your HR department is dumb. You can pretty much fire a straight, white, non-age protected white male on the spot for anything. I was wrongfully terminated from my last corporate gig. Went and met with a lawyer. She was a black woman. She straight up told me, it's unfortunate but if we switched seats you'd have a slam dunk case but without a protected class to lean on in an at-will state you're basically hosed. :frown:

Sounds like your workplace / boss is the problem because they cant tell where the problem is snd keep firing others instead of the problem person.

So you will probably be fired next because its only been 9 months. Good luck. Sue for wrongful termination and hostilenwork environment too. Reach out ti the other peolle they fired because if the bitch snd go in togethrr in thr lawsuit. Settle it our of court, and send me 2%. Youre welcome

She is straight up toxic. Before I started at this place, she had gotten 2 people fired by starting shit and pissing them off to the point they called her a bitch and then she went and cried to HR. It's ongoing and everyone is sick of her shit but afraid to say anything because she basically has HR on speed dial. Aside from those 2 she got fired, she has filed complaints about multiple other people, same exact M.O. She comes at you with attitude and baits you into responding and then cries about your response.

And why doesn't HR consider that maybe, just maybe she is the problem? :shaking:

Fact is HR is worthless. I've had to simply walk off jobs because I knew nothing could be resolved through HR and there were other places to work. I got lucky the last time that happened, as the person I had a problem with ended up getting fired on his own, and I was rehired for more money.

You failed at identifying as gender fluid and as a lbgtqia+ woman that day.

I'm actually considering putting my pronouns as they them at work as employment insurance.

Face is like a 7/10 body is 9/10.

Now hang on a second. Seems to me like you might be jumping the gun here. Are you sure she's being a bitch or could it be maybe you're a little hypersensitive? There are some great employees out there that are a little too direct with their communication and it can be taken as aggressive or negative by the weaker more sensitive coworkers.

From everything I've seen in this thread it seems like she's a huge asset to the business and maybe you're a little too deep in your feelings. Just calm down.

Did you get any ??

So investigate. As a male they're going to want to balk, but in the end they will have to believe you if you say you feel unsafe and that she's abusive. Stay clean and document everything including your coms with HR

I burned a bull dyke by doing that when I worked for the state of Calif. It went against every fiber of their being but in the end I had documented everything and left emotions out of it.
Just become a protected class yourself and say you are homosexual. You don’t have to tell them you are lesbian.

My suggestion

1. If she physical confronts you. My suggestion position yourself in camera view.
2. Keep hand down and make a couple attempts to look directly at the camera.
3. You never mentioned gender of HR
4. Whom do they “report” to I’m not referring to the actual supervisor.
5. If confronted in your work space get up and walk to view of camera make sure to walk past more then one before stopping to show her following you to be the instigator. Stop for a moment look in there direction before proceeding to walk away again. Then document times days and locations of video.
This will show you are being harassed. You will still probably need to look for new work. But metro times and dates even if it doesn’t involve you all incidents will help close the case.
