What's new

Vehicle prices that make you say WTF?

access cab? single cab?

Ford dealership had a 2017 jeep with 55k for a 25k. Went to look and it was as base model as possible, not even power locks. Plastics were chalky and the seats had stains.

I'm not sure that Jeep cost 25k brand new in 2017.
I will sell you my 70,000 mile hemi swap 09 four-door JK rubicon on 37’s for that.

I'm in the jet engine industry, its no different. 5ish years ago they re-structured the org levels to minimize management levels and "bust bureaucracy"

5 years later, I'm pretty sure there's more management than ever before. And everyone has at least one deputy now too:homer: 90% of the "managers" i work with defer everything I have visibility to to their deputy, and most work from home. Oh, and they all generally hop around after 2-3 years so there is virtually no consistency or built knowledge and ownership of business units

McKinsey came in but I'm too much of a peon to have insight into their feedback. Got to imagine it hit the radar of who to give the boot
When MBB (McKinsey, Bain, BCG) walk in the door you're usually trying to improve marketability of a questionable product (opioids) or restructuring (layoffs) :lmao::lmao:

Shitty part with restructuring in decent times is that to protect products/divisions or certain protected individuals you end up compromising the necessary cuts to obfuscate your priorities. Hence why so many companies restructure with consultants & still end up bloated in middle management. In bad times you cut till the river overflows with blood.

$236,000 :lmao:

Ridiculous price, but I despise when dealers post these types of vehicles and have nothing about the accessories that have been added to the truck. Like that truck is sporting a Any Level lift kit. I don't know much about them but think they are around $30,000 - $40,000 just for the lift kit.

I have no idea how goodyear sells tires. The wranglers have always been garbage and the endurance are over priced.

Koo-pahs were an ok middle of the road brand, now I won't look at them at all :homer:
They sell because they almost own everybody. Soon, they will own everybody.
This... and they sell a HUGE amount via OEM contracts. Look at all the Wranglers on F150s.

agree, it further exacerbates this bizarreness of this one.

I didnt post this one earlier, but i guess it seems appropriate

if that lift kit is really 30-40k, I'm disappointed in the single shear Heim at the pitman

But over all

WTF is going on under the front of that truck?
It's actually a pretty trick design. They claim it allows over 12" of height adjustment with no impact to ride quality, steering alignment, or axle positioning. Those big air ride lift kits that Kelderman sells make's alignment almost impossible except for one height and really messes with link geometry, but a lot less money. I mean other than a bro dozer or money flex I see no real use for system. From what I have seen in videos, it is pretty durable.

almost like a watts link for steering?

We never did OEM, but 20 years ago we'd hear insider shit from guys in the know on OEM- Bad Month got a contract for 8 million balloons with gm, underbid and will actually run 3% loss. Just to keep someone else from getting it.

OEM has always been cut throat.

Playing the long game...

How many people buy the exact same tire as originally speced? Possibly 20-25%? That's a ton of sales 2-5 years down the line built-in to cover that 3% loss.

Seriously, they probably had the bean-counters crunch the numbers and postulate however much additional return.

Anybody want to give me 37k for mine, I will take it. Its number matching 350 4 speed. I only paid 16.5 for it four years ago.

37 is what it's probably worth fully restored in mint condition.lol

Take it down to bare metal and epoxy prime it and I'll go 25k.

Did you buy it from Barney? :flipoff2:

If that interior is velour, make it 20k.

Nailed it on the interior.

Early next year it's getting stripped down, rust fixed, mini tubs and frame connectors added. Then painted back to original color. I have all Detroit speed front and rear suspension already for it.

Can't wait to see it.

I have a '69 Firebird convertible I'm going to restore (I had one as my first car in 1978).

Rust free and never had any, as hard as that is to believe. I have to decide if I'm going to build the spare '72 455HO that came with my '72 455HO T/A, or go big block Chevy. It has the factory straight 6 in it now.
