The flea market was this weekend. I helped work a parking lit that donated all procedures if we worked it to the kids Co-Op I raffled off 2 owls and a tree to help support our Co-Op learning center as well. PreK. But didnt get a booth this year. Already have a booth location lined up for next spring. Need to be more than a 2 trick pony. Also most people are going to want $40 and under small items. So going to continue to work in smaller stuff for that. Smaller mushrooms, more trees, small owls, hooefully small bears by then as well. Along with some more expensive shit but the higher dollar stuff is a very limited market at a flea market.

Got a fair amount of new stock to carve. Tried a bigger tree. This one is 3’. Still have so tuning to do on the base. Left room for a customizable lettered base.

No idea what to charge but I think it’s fucking cool.

Ok so took that tree down to the farmers market to get some feed back and it was a fucking hit! Going to carve a few more for sure.

ETA: probably going to try and put some Raw Linseed Oil on a few of them since they are green. May take a few weeks to dry but, hoping to minimize the cracking.

Well sold a set of 3 of those bigger trees to a local business in town today told them I need to put some linseed oil on them and then let them dry first. Got 2 different mushroom carving commissions as well. And a last name sign Time to get some shit done.

Just out of curiosity, what sort of time to you have put into these carvings? Like, an afternoon? or a weekend? more?

Bigger trees are about 1.5 hrs. Depending on level of detail and sanding work I do. First one was 4 hours

Seriously! They remind me of the trees in Whooville in the original Grinch stole Christmas movie. Very cool stuff indeed. Almost has me tempted to go try my hand at some stuff as well, though I’m sure it won’t come out nearly as good as his stuff has.
