Thefishguy77’s attempt at chainsaw art...

How much in t&m did it cost you? Whats one sell for at the local garden shop?
Help me price this please. All Cedar 1.5” x 3:4” material. 72” high. 34” wide.

Made a jig so its about 20 minutes total time. Buddy and I trade for sawmill time. Materials are cheap as well. Looking to hopefully get into some nurseries for next spring bulk orders. But get in the door now.

Nothing really comparable online that I have found. Most of the cedar ones I see are out of stock backordered with no price. Blows and home disappointment only have super thing Chinese myster wood ones available and they are 30-70 with some higher end online ones, fancy like, at 200-300

Ok so sold a lot of stuff last Saturday. Best day yet. 2 big ticket items and several $50-70 ish items. :smokin: Skipping this weekend andndoing another 3 day event the following Friday through Sunday. Going to be doing a shit ton of carving until then.

Trying a new tree base style out on the bigger higher priced trees. This needs to add around $50 in value for it to be worth it. We will see.

Ok so farmers market stuff is selling HOT. Trellises seem to move at $60 each or 2 for a $100.
Have a 3 day event in Randle for the lavender festival. Been carving like a mad man to get ready and I’m not even close. Probably going to be carving every night when I get home.

I actually have a small section on one of my tables that I set up at the swap meet of my failed prints. It’s nice for people to be able to see it doesn’t always work out and it makes for a good conversation piece to have some laughs with your customers. I’ll likely take some laser etching fuck ups too when I invariably have some. Right now the back right corner holds my failures while the back left showcases some of the personal high detailed and hand painted stuff that’s not for sale, but shows what I can do with my stuff.

Finished it out. 40-48” tall. This one needs to be in the $275-300 range to make it worthwhile. Its a fun carve though.

You are selling yourself short by maybe a decimal point. The owls are cool as hell also! If people are snatching them up at your asking price, that should give you a clue.

This little 18" tall dude was $600 about 15 years ago in my neck of the woods (was a gift, so I don't know the exact price).

That would be $70-$100 here. Ive bought my mom a ton of bear things like that.

Will
They let your carve at the sales place ?

That would draw a crowd
Like those candle making and glassblowing places .

Finally wore my bar out to the point that is makes me nervous and thats saying something. So bought a replacement bar, 12” dime tip, the Oregon 12” dime tip is about 4 links linger than the Stihl 12”
Dime tip:mad3:. So now I wait for master links to arrive and then have a buddy shorten my chains for me. The Archer chain, Australia made, seems much better across the board than the new Stihl chains I recently got. Probably have to contact the midwest saw shop I got it from to start with and see how much they want for a roll of that archer chain.

Carved a pair of 6-7’ trees for the coffee stand in town and 4 30-36” trees. Kind cool having my shit on display to all. They hand my cards out to those who ask:smokin: Also started a 5-6’ tall tree with like Gnome doos and windows in the trunk. And made a tomato cage/7 gallon bucket cover. Need to make 3 more. Kind of a PITA to make but if I batch them it wont be too bad. Probably try and make a lot of 10 for me and keep track of my hours. See if it’s worth trying to make them for sale. I doubt it but the first one is always the hardest and the plans were “in my head”:lmao:

It fits it ships:smokin:

Also I am looking at setting up a shipping account to see what my rates would be for trees and bears and the like.
Be warned, shipping is stupid expensive right now. Small flat rate boxes are costing me just under $10 to ship. Medium flat rate boxes are $16
