What's new

the youtube thread

Wait, your the green porsche driving snob? Unsubscribed.:flipoff2:
Haha that's me, minus the snob part lol

What's with the vertically filmed super short videos? Crossposting with tiktok? Does that drive people to your youtube page?

"Shorts" are a YouTube thing trying to compete with tiktok/instagram. Has to be under 1 minute, filmed vertical, and tagged with #Shorts. It's a good way to get views fast, but honestly overall sucks (doesn't really help the channel grow from what I've seen) and I've basically only done them for low effort videos.

I see. I am always telling friends and family about youtube channels but they never know what I am talking about unless they have seen a tiktok of the same thing. Not just talking about kids here but greybeards as well. All the guys at work (the type of people who would watch your videos) are up at 4am sending tiktoks to each other. If you are already making that type of video it might be worth throwing them up on there too. Might as well use the creepy addictive chinese algorithm to your advantage.

Yup, already on it:

Haven't done all of the videos there, but I have been rendering out shorts with a special end screen for both tiktok and instagram.

This guy is slowly getting his little flatfender put together. I like the camera work and he seems to do pretty good work in digestible little videos. Plus there are hundreds of opportunities to make fun of the way he says Idea.

This is just nuts...vid just got picked up by the algorithm:

I'm also over 200 subs  youtube is such clickbait though

Anyone wanna guess how much tension this took?

Levitating a unimog on a 20 foot stick, with only a 3 foot lever!

I had been looking for these ever since I got on to the internet
It is a 1970 show called Connections James Burke would take an inccedent in our modern world and go back through time and show how it came about. Ep 1 was about the power outage in the 60s that effected the whole eastern US

The local Sacramento PBS station played those on a regular basis in the early 90's. Loved that show.

I don't think thats a mog but doesnt matter.

pretty cool. Seems like if you are going through that much trouble you'd add something on the end of the digger to backfill and smooth, rather than following it with a trackhoe?

For precision reloading I like these three, but with Johnny's you can usually do a lot of FFD and still get all the info you need.

Gavintube
Erik Cortina
Johnny's Reloading Bench.

Funny shitshow. There's more funny after the mid-video fish stuff.

I've been on ice like that before. 5 inches thick, but all broken up like how the side windows of a car break. Lost an argo and some gear (not mine).

Way Out West---Workshop Stuff

An old timer and his wife in Ireland I think. Building a railroad track on their property out of junk, working on chunking wood with a stationary hit-n-miss engine, drying, making charcoal then burning to make steam to run a flywheel motor to run a locomotive???

Sorta has a 486 vibe to it, with all the re purposing and frustrating work experimenting with stuff to make it work.

Latest video about the pneumatic flywheel motor.

The way the guy speaks is awesome.

When my TV is on it's on Youtube, main stream TV sucks so bad and it's noting but propaganda 24-7-365.
I have a lot of channels that I watch and I see that a bunch of you guys watch some of the same channels.

Check out Pakistani Truck, those guy are fixing truck caveman style, with a torch, hammer, grinder and old junk welder, they are working in the dirt, no safety glasses, sandals on their feet. After you watch those guys you'll never complain about your work environment or shitty tools again, lol

Thumbnail looks like another crap "life hack" video, but it's not.

Excellent design for woodworking glueups, and probably would be useful for welding.

No need to watch the whole thing. Skip to 7:50 and watch from there.
