Not much to add, but another vote for older backhoes. Seems like much of what you hear/read now days talks about backhoes like they're outdated and useless... Picked up this case 580K at the beginning of summer, and it's been an awesome machine to have around.

Assuming that’s noting major is wrong with it you should be able to do whatever you want putting a thousand hours and not effecting value much, 580s from late 80s to early 20s are usually 10-18. here for a decent unit, higher end if 4x4 lower if 2nd.

What's the serial number of the loader?
-044100 : AW15058
044101- : AH212088, R81857, RE24534
If you can't find a serial number look for a part number on the barrel of the cylinder

025595 is a low serial number and you should only need seal kit AW15058 for your loader lift cylinders. If you look on the cylinders it should have part number AW15527 or AW15526 stamped in it. There is always the possibility that the cylinders could have been replaced in the past.

I know about that cyl barrel # and have looked for it to no avail, I think the thick ass ancient JD paint is probably the strongest thing on this tractor and possibly holding it together, and may need removal to see # .
So I've looked at these kits till I'm blue in the face, there are several different ones and they all say the fit the 148 even tho they are obviously different kits, then this # supersedes that #, that # supersedes this # and so on .
I dont believe the cylinders have been replaced, so I might just order that old style kit, do one and see if its the right stuff .
I really dont want to remove a cyl until a kit shows up because the tractor does actually function at the moment should I need it, just uses a couple gals of fluid is all

I did more digging and the late model cylinders have hydraulic hoses going to the ports versus the steel lines like yours do.

Just did a pair for our Jd 640 loader. About like yours. 1” gun didn’t even phase it. Had to heat it and get a cheater with a big dude hanging off it. Don’t you love those seal kits? Pay for all of it but only use like 3 pieces lol

Those cylinders are easy, the ones you have to use a filler ring suck if the filler ring fails. The piston nut on ag cylinders are not as tight as industrial cylinders are. Did you get them both done?

Drug home a hot pile of 1466 the other day... Got the loader and cab pulled off of it and some new front tires/rims on it and it's already looking a ton better. Needs a good washing, fix the wiring, Swap the rear wheels around the other way so they're dished in rather than out (I prefer the look that way) with the wheel weights on the inside and some flat top fenders. Got some hood tin for it too as the originals were fubared. It'll get there eventually.
And bought a John Deere 544B loader today. Probably bring it home next week.

No, only one bag of parts has arrived thus far
It was super easy, so grateful for that, sun was goin down, hands were getting cold, I swear it drops 30° here in 15 min, so I used built in hand warmer
