What's new

The Snowmobile Thread

It is. Supercharged and running nitro. There's another video of him stacking it up at the Big Iron Shoot Out in BC. Think the sled was called Rated X. Big triples are awesome , Jake Struthers from Carl's Cycles built a 1350 watercraft bottom using Crank Shop cylinders in a Edge chassis that is flat fucking nasty. I always wanted a big 3 but 12000$ from Union Bay wasn't in my budget.

The local guys have the jet ski engine in an edge chassis. I think they got it up to 246 hp for the trails:lmao:. Sad thing is is they don’t race just for shits and grins on lakes.

This is another on of their projects. 1980 exciter with a liberty twin in it. Last I heard he was hitting 170hp with this this. Owner says this exciter is way scarier and faster than the jetski sled. They have about 500 hours into that pipe and dyno time. It’s like iteration 3-4:lmao:. He has his own water brake dyno in the garage for his sleds:smokin:.

I ❤️ 2 stroke triples.

Manufacturers moved away from 2 stroke triples, and now the snow is scarce. Coincidence? No. Snow gods are punishing us.

Narrower engines allowed them to bring the clutches closer to centerline for a better handling sled.

And they figured out they could get the same power from a twin as a triple.

We're at 110% average snow pack this year. :flipoff2:

170hp with that track must be all sorts of disappointing.

We had a TRX 250 motor that we sent to PSI and they made it a 425:eek: we could never get it to runcorrect with the electron carb. Found like a 44 or 46mm flat slid Mukuni and it ran ok but never great. Sold it to someone in Montana to build a ski bike for himself. Followed up and he said it ran like a mother fucker. When we had the motor even running poor it had stupid amounts of power and you could almost feel the power you couldn’t use.

I know Cool story :flipoff2:

We did 150 miles today in northern Wisconsin. The trails are in great shape in bayfield county. A little rough and short on snow in parts of Ashland County.

Another 100 miles today. The trails are still holding up great even with the warm weather.

One more day of riding then head home.

Today the trails started getting pretty busy late afternoon today.

Signed up for the beatercross today!! Hoping the snow stick around till March 4th. Old 1980 exciter is gonna be in it to win it.

One of my employees and my brother signed up so it will be a party. Me and my brother is racing in the leaf class. The employee is racing in the b class.

My brother is gonna race a sno scoot :lmao:. He is probably gonna do pretty decent. Should be fun:lmao::flipoff2:

60 miles of trail sounds horrible!

I only put 90 miles on in 3 days, and that was 3 tanks of gas

Sounds like you need to upgrade those dragons so you're not stuck all the time :flipoff2:

Neither one is a dragon, haha. the dragon would have better suspension and an 800!

My 07 600 has carburetors :lmao: and my buddies is an 08 700. Both have over 4k miles. If I lived closer to good snow and/or wasn't spending $$ on buggies and jeeps, I'd have an 850, but not today.

Well, apparently, in the past two weeks a rat built a nest inside my Summit 850 and near the exhaust. So, when I went out this past saturday, the nest promptly caught on fire with just enough heat to melt the oil line, but not enough to alert me to any issue.

Just ordered a $2500 long block. :mad3::mad3::mad3:

From last weekend. Wrapped around a tree pointed down hill. Decided to just pull the ski off and wiggle it out. Got it out after snow-coning myself and my helmet just a little bit

My youngest daughter and I are heading up to the UP Friday for a couple days of riding. Lake Gogebic area. They are supposed to get some snow today and tomorrow on top of all the snow they already have so should be good riding.

We were suppose to ride from Rhinelander, WI. to northern Maine through Canada last week. Mother nature brought warm weather and rain to the Midwest, so we trailered the sleds to Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada. Unloaded the sleds there on Saturday, and rode to Jackman, Maine. Sunday we were headed to Millinocket, Maine when 30-ish miles into the ride my sled just shut off. Got it fired back up, but motor was hurting, so we made the decision to limp it back to Jackman. My cousin rode the 200 miles back to truck / trailer, loaded his sled, then drove 3+ hours to get me and my sled. Got home to south eastern WI. Wednesday afternoon. Dealer said roughly $6000 for a new short block / other parts and labor. Looks like parts will be about $3000 if I do it myself. It's gonna sit till fall and then I'll tare into it I guess. Good thing riding season is on the back end of being done here.

What sled? There are always guys parting out sleds with broken and bent tunnels and bulkheads online.

Anyone going to/racing in the vintage race in 3-lakes, wi this weekend?

2018 Ski-Doo Renegade, 600 E-TEC motor. Plan was to purchase a new sled this spring, and hand this one down to the kids. I'll end up fixing it, just a little gun shy of ripping it apart. Lots of money in parts if I don't do it right. I haven't went down the used motor route yet either.

larbor - My cousin will now be racing there since our trip went south. I believe he will be on a red yamaha enticer, 179 or 179x will be his number.

Damn. I see 800s all the time but I rarely see a 600 anywhere out here. They don't do well at 8000'....

No I should go race up there but I’ll save the sled for next weekend:lmao:

It always looks like a good time up there. Their track is quite a bit bigger than the beatercross we have down here. The beater cross is next weekend the first weekend in March.
