What's new

The other heavy metal music.

Orbit culture is one of my latest faves.

Himsa is an old hard ass fuck band!

Haven't listened to Himsa in forever.

When I first heard OC a while back, I wasn't too crazy about them. They've since grown on me a lot and sound a lot like the direction that I would have anticipated Metallica to head after the Black album.

I haven't either. They really are brutal. A much over looked band.
I was going through an old Playlist on my laptop and found a bunch of good ones
August burns red
From autumn to ashes
Dirge within

Among many others. Maybe when i get time I'll link some of those tracks

I first heard oc late last year believe it or not. They seem pretty good so far.
I'm not shocked that Metallica went the way they did. They sold out, so i discount anything they might have done:flipoff2:

Trying not to double post, though I see I did post I Life Once Lost twice. Someone did mention Orbit Culture, but I wanted to link their newest stuff. Didn't see Within the Ruins in here yet.

Within The Ruins - Feeding Frenzy

This is a more subtle side of this thread, but I want add it. Came across this guy years ago in my quest for more polyrhythmic and progressive metal. Phon and Verdure hit the spot. Like Gojira, he hails from France. And has a bit of their sound. Figured he might appeal to the Gojira fans.

Thread continues to deliver......
does anyone remember ministry from back in the 90’s???
I was reminiscing last weekend and was surprised how “techno” it came across!!!! I don’t remember hearing it that way in the past!!!!
pissed me off.... starting thinking, fuck.... did they start the whole edm movement????:lmao:

My taste in music is broader than anyone else's that I know of

Oh god  Here we go. The guy with the eclectic musical taste has shown up to inform us that he has surveyed the collective musical efforts of Mankind and has decided on pigeon-hole metal as his go-to.

Metal is a classification hobby like philately or numismatics at this point. The only difference is the guys who collect stamps get richer, and the guys who collect heavy metal experiences get deafer and dumber.

I like some great metal, and I admire what the nordics have done with it, but metal is some of the last music I'd describe as 'moving me'. I'm more affected by an elevator rendition of "Mandy". C'mon, you have to admit, Muzak "Mandy"? That's a great fucking song.

You may not be wrong. I recall a blend of hard rock (what many thought was metal) and techno being the highlight of many of my friends' musical interests in high school. Ministry was played and spoken of often. I certainly took an interest in Fear Factory and Prodigy - similar movements or results of progression, you could say.

I'm getting really tempted to buy a used hard drive so that I can resurrect mine. There's probably thousands of songs on it. Surely some good stuff I could post here that I can't remember at this time.

Went through the thread again to see if I had already posted Ceiling of Anvers. Didn't spot them. Also trying out the advanced mode so I can insert multiple videos. Here it goes..

Inserting all three songs from In Exile because they never actually produced an album and you can't always find the vids if you don't know the song names.

I'm finding that the YT sound quality royally sucks, lately. Missing a lot of the low end.
