Shuffled some around in the side yard yesterday.
Fresh tarps put off the wood shed project another year.
burned through how? was your saw oiling the bar properly?any of y'all have a preferred chain for cutting hickory? Burned through a brand new Stihl yellow chain yesterday. I hate dealing w/ hickory until it's in the fie....
Oiling appears to be fine. Just dull AF after 12 cuts.burned through how? was your saw oiling the bar properly?
yes... any chain I sharpen gets guides property sized... This was a brand new chain.do you know to file down the depth stops after you file the teeth?
lots of people don't and just kinda don't realize why their chains stop cutting after a couple filings

how that saying go? 2 saws is 1, 1 is none?Hickory is hard on chains. When we cut fence posts, we normally run through 2-3 chains in a day.
It’s been 6ish years since I got the saw stuck….
Ding ding ding..winner!how that saying go? 2 saws is 1, 1 is none?
That is why I take at least 2 saws to the timber with me. plus wedges..
You ain't wrong. I used to keep the m18 as a backup, but somebody decided they needed it more than me.how that saying go? 2 saws is 1, 1 is none?

That's not an ax. That's a splitting maul. I have an 8 pounder with a fiberglass handle.Im in need of supplying wood for winter as secondary heating. What would be a decent entry level axe? I'd like something better than lowes or TSC would supply, but not spend a shit ton on money. This is what the PO left
Any recommendations?

I love my fiskars. The metal is a little softer but it splits awesome. I have the whole set but I like the 8lb and 6lb splitting maul for getting things done. I got he 36” handle in each but there are othersizes if you want a shorter one. 28” I thinkIm in need of supplying wood for winter as secondary heating. What would be a decent entry level axe? FixedI've used mauls before but prefer a wood splitter for splitting wood.
Exactly. If all your are splitting is pine or fur, an axe or maul might be okay. Start splitting oak, locust, or hedge by hand and tell me how an axe works out.Fixed
