What's new

tangent covid thought about going out too soon

COVID is real.

Were there road blocks stopping you from cowering in fear of it? No maskers kicking your door down to give you hugs and exhale in your safe space? Evil corporations making you go to work where you’re corralled, forced like cattle into unventilated cubicle pens?

So I've been thinking about this for a week.. and I havent seen any media coverage on this thought

didn't want to hijack some other covid thread

most of the people who got the two shots are elderly right???

Abbott says Texas is open now at 100% becuz so many people are immune now

but those elderly people ARE NOT THE ONES FILLING establishments..

the ones going to clubs and pool halls, etc with the exception of front line workers.. don't have their shot..

sounds super risky to me

Then stay home in your basement.:flipoff2:

The thing is if you go out you accept the risk of whatever activity you are partaking in. If you feel comfortable going to a packed bar then go and dont be mad at anyone if you get the covids. If your not comfortable then stay home and sanitze your delivered groceries and you will probably be fine. Everyone gets to decide how safe they want to be

Until someone who has been hiding in their house is forced to go to work and sit in the same meeting room as the dudes who were out in a crowded bar the last few weekends, and who came in sick because they used all their sick days on bullshit hangover days from drinking on Sunday and Thursday nights. That's the level of decision making going on in my office at the moment. I'm pretty stoked my department allows me to work remotely when I want. The most precautions I take right now are when I go into work.

Don't you work with a bunch of non essential twat waffles in government ?:flipoff2:

hiding in their house is forced to go to work.

tell me more about this forced work program :flipoff2:

make your decisions based on your risk tolerance. if you choose to go to work and are the basement type, why oh why would you NOT show up with a paint grade respirator that also covers your eyes?

put it on in the morning or when you get out of your car, take it off when you get back in your car at the end of the day, use new filters everyday and alcohol wipes, using gloves of course, to sanitize it after you take it off. discard gloves, wash your hands before touching anything.

it's really that simple to reduce 99% of your already low risk and is 100% on the person. you job won't allow that? find a new job. good luck :)

Senator Rand Paul Clashes with Dr. Fauci Over Mask-Wearing

During a hearing on the coronavirus response, Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul highlights studies that show once you've had COVID, you are unlikely to transmit the disease and therefore don't need to wear a mask per CDC guidance. Senator Paul then accuses Dr. Anthony Fauci of wearing a mask "for theater" even though he's been vaccinated, saying, "You parade around in a mask for show." Dr. Fauci, responds saying, "Masks are not theater" and says that while there is some credence to Senator Paul's point that the risk of transmissibility is reduced once you've had the original or "wild" strain, it is not the case with new more transmissible variants that are becoming more prevalent in the U.S., including the B117 variant from the U.K. and another more troubling strain that is developing in New York.

And there it is. Even with 100% vaccinations, masks won't come off.

Sure, we can all quit our jobs in a depressed economy and try to do interviews via zoom and gotomeeting. That seems like a fair trade to letting people go get the rona at bars.

I can never tell when you are trolling or exaggerating your opinion to get a reaction or really believe every once of what you type.

So you think that people that are scared.... lets say 20% should dictate how the rest live thier lives? Did you read the artical on fl vs ca posted in the other thread?

Anything with a blow-off valve isnt' allowed at work because "OMG we'll contaminate err one!" N95s, respirators, etc. When the whole thing started and we didn't know how bad it was going to be, I wore an N95 every day to work. One day someone noticed the valve and told me I had to ditch it for other people's safety.

I'm lucky that I have to option to choose when I come in. Some people aren't that lucky.

except the feds are still "paying" for people with Covid for up to 2 weeks. Thats what a company gets to deduct in taxes so its almost like a payment.

if your employer is so shitty that they wont pay you two weeks sick leave if you get the Rona, i guess thats the price you pay for not being a highly skilled worker who is paid what they are worth in the private sector.

Not at all. I'm saying the scared people can't just stay home. They have to go out and interact with others if they want to have a job, so it's a good idea to be a little less cavalier with the "fuck em, they can stay home if they want" line.

There are people out there with health conditions, weak or compromised immune systems, etc, who still have to go to work every day. Playing the "Stay at home if you don't like it card" just invites them to actually stay at home and claim fear of covid to the feds and get a check to not work.

There has to be a little more thought that goes into the solution, and yeah, it's inconvenient, and difficult, and I don't think anyone has a good answer, but if it was easy to fix the problem, we would have done it a year ago. "The can stay home" works about as well as "Lock everything down"

two weeks of lockdown, just to flatten the curve, thats all we need.

All people, even those w/ compromised immune systems or those who are terrified, have always had the option to wear a full biohazard suit, or to quarantine, or to give up and die; or any combination in between. That's called freedom, and it requires people to take care of their own fucking selves.

It's not the government's place to kill small businesses, wreck kids' scholastic and social development, and completely fuck up our economy in the name of putting guard rails around every canyon in the country. Personal accountability - live it! Live free or die - I don't give a fuck which you choose.:flipoff2:

I can't wait till Fauxci says we need to start wearing 3 masks. It'll be fun in the summer time.

I'm not saying the government should do anything, just that you guys should be less of a dick about it when some people are afraid.

there are no blow-off valve on full face respirators that use cartridge filters

the unlucky ones can use $200 of their covid stimulus money to buy a quality setup

Let me help you help them - tell folks they shouldn't worry about what others say.

Also, please inform them that their feelers are not constitutionally protected.

Also, please re-read this:

Personal accountability - live it!

Also, this:

coddling them won't help their fear.

I'm not begrudging anyone their right to accept the terror that has been skullfucked into their psyches by propaganda.

Please don't begrudge me the right to say, "That's just fucking stupid - go live your life, already!" - fair enough?

Harry Johnson - should the .gov mandate that you wear a bear attack suit when you go mountain biking?

After all, there's a chance you could get a nasty infection if you crash - "better safe than sorry".

OR . . . do you wish to be personally responsible for your safety when you go grape smuggling?

BOOM, bitch! :flipoff2: (drops mic)
