Street Outlaws NPK season 6 WTF

Well still no idea what's going on. Figured this might be the last year of it, bought a couple tickets to go see a race in Cordova, IL next weekend. Just going for Saturday.

The YouTube channel is up and running along with the Upshift channel who does a good job filming but honestly it's not very appealing watching in this format.

I haven't given it a honest shake though

I completely forgot about that. I haven't watched any part of s7 so far other than a couple guy's personal channels.

After finding the npk live channel, in definitely not watching 6+ hour stream of npk regularly. The upshift one looks more reasonable

They are trying their hardest to keep it going without Discovery bank rolling the whole thing and broadcasting it on a major cable network but I don't think it's going to last more than a season, maybe two before the sponsors go away.

Combine that with faster and faster "small tire" races and it looks DOA.
I saw in a news feed post Lizzy pulled out but the other names appear to still be in it, I guess might as well try to win if you are already that far in.

Lizzy dropped out? Damn. Oh well, guess I won't have to fast walk past that pit next week lol. Iirc she was more or less out with the cancer anyways right now.

I agree, she is good to look at but damn I bet shes a pain in the ass.

Half assed tried to watch a couple times before, but annoying to turn it on randomly and not sure what you’re catching and when something desirable will be on.

Did have it on for several rounds last Saturday. Coverage is pretty good imo to have on in the background and catch things that are interesting and let it run thru the filler races. Sure there are things to improve on sure, but it’s live and unedited.

Rotating Order I think:
Winners Bracket
Losers Bracket
Sideshow (snowmobiles at Beach Bend)
Daily Drivers
Small Tire
Big Tire

Not sure if you saw alm the drama with him and Jerry Bird, or even him and her ex fiance Kye Kelly, definitely a pain in the ass.

Pat Mussi has been a dickhead for as long as I've known about him, Discovery just managed to capture it on film for the whole world to see.

He pulled a similar stunt with Bobby Ducote at one of the NPK races and wouldn't give him parts to fix his Mussi built engine. That's some next level dickhead stuff right there.

Yeah pretty interesting watching that go down.

Nothing like Steve Morris it seems.

RIP Lizzy Musi

I'm not sure anyone out there in that realm is as hardcore good people as Steve Morris. The dude is next level. There are lots of shops out there that are great for customers but I've never heard of anyone dropping everything for a customer and making all day road trips. The dude deserves everything he's got for damned sure.

Too bad about Lizzy. She annoyed the fuck out of me but 33 is way too damned young to check out.

Saturday event got pushed to Sunday. I took Monday off of work last minute. This is why I like to keep 100hrs+ of PTO lol

Kinda a good thing. Got caught in the rain at the concert we're at tonight, and I got to drink and have more fun since we don't have to leave early in the am for the npk show now. Downside, burning PTO. I hate that

The series is still going.

I ate lunch with Shawn Wilhoit the other day and asked him what he thought about it.
He said Time Warner wanted nothing to do with anything that risky so they punted the series.
He also said that its way too much race car now and not even possible for a "normal self employed business owner to even participate" specifically taking 2 months straight off work and spending $10k-$25k a weekend to be competitive.

The cars they run now are just Pro Mods with normal steel roof/quarter bodies.
Procharged/Proline Hemis or scew blowers.

Man I seriously haven't watched any of it since. It's just not on my radar anymore.

I can see what he's saying, the entire thing is insane now. But you have to spend the money or there's zero chance you'll be competitive. The drivetrain costs alone with spares has got to be insane these days. I don't think anybody is running a basic big block or 481x anymore. Iirc even Mike Murillo switched to a proline.

Yup, shit got serious pretty quickly.

The latest vid from Finnegan he went to the Alabama race and interviewed murder Nova, fireball etc it was probably one of the better videos he's put out in years. I follow murder Nova so I know he's wanted out for a while but he makes too much money to say no. I can see a bunch of those in the series splitting off and doing their own thing, all of them say they miss the street and running real cars so I look forward to them doing that in the next few years.

Mike Finningan did a interview of a few of them the other day and that was the sentiment, its gone too far (but they are still making $$$) so its not changing soon.

I haven't watched a single event, definitely don't want to go...

150k engines, 40k trans etc. shit is stupid expensive. Murder said they're at minimum $800 per pass. a weekend knocks $10k in the head real quick and then they throw a rack of $5k rods and pistons in it every 30 runs.

Yeah you noticed Ryan thought it was more like $3k per pass for a weekend, so $21k

Big bucks for damned sure. I shudder to think how much murder has dumped into his program the last 2 years. 2 30k engine rebuilds in his toter, 2 full sets of brakes for the stacker and then all the other gotta have it stuff along the way. Wouldn't shock me to hear he's spent a million in the last 24 months.

I am wondering if a new show/series of some sort is in the works with Cleetus building his new car. I could see him and Swanstrom getting together to make something happen.

Hard to say, unfortunately guys building cars like Eagle is how this shit gets fucked up in the first place.:stirthepot:

Cleetus car was built "only" for small tires so that is a pretty big diferentiator from everything normal.
The Bear Shit NAtionals at XRP the other day was pretty awesome, raced for $100k and Swanstrom and Fletcher Cox raced for a $100k side bet in the semi finals.

Seeing Swanstroms car run like it does with Ugge screw blower and 28's is really hard for my brain to understand
