Street Outlaws NPK season 6 WTF

What is NPK?
A drag race on a real prepped track with "no prep" called No Prep Kings.

But the cars are more pro-mod than street car but they have waayy more rules than pro-mods so it's a really strict class racing.

Agreed, once the jj chase is a race shit started it was really fuckin hokey imo.

Likewise street racing with tire crack shit is kind of hokey too, we really gonna cry about a tire crack when the car doesn't move?

They need to stop that shit and go to a race master and maybe a spotter, if either one of them doesn't call it without reviewing a video then it didn't happen.

No prep kings

At a "not prepped" track, 1/8th mile racing

A lot of the same guys from the street show, many that aren't.
1/8 mile is gay.

Well I never did like preps either. I was the President of the APA Anti Prep Association in high school. :flipoff2:

last time i was there made a hell of an impression on me. i haven't been back, that was 1987 i think.
Same lol
I mentioned the April race and the ol lady didn't say no...
My son would be much more into it I think.

It's a weird class of racing no doubt, the power adder weight penalties are pretty wild too, tire size restrictions, steel roof and quarters etc.

They aren't slow though IMO and the format is pretty wild as far as payouts, even the beater bomb guys thought it was not sustainable.

The more I research this and find out that this really was a race series put on by a production film company it makes it seem more obvious it would fold up like a cheap lawn chair with out the TV money.

I just looked on the NPK website and all it says is that there will be a new season in 2024.
The racers seem to be saying they are prepping for a new season too.
If there is no TV to keep everyone interested I am really skeptical that there will be a crowd to attend.

Watching some of the footage off youtube from the '23 season the stands where pretty packed, so maybe the gate draws were enough tot pay the bills?

I’ll watch Murder Nova/187 Customs regularly. Kind of sly, but they said they are pushing content this off season harder. Race car(s) haven’t been home much so far.

I checked Ryan Martins YT yesterday and he hasn't really posted much at all about NPK/racing in the last 2 months.

I guess what I am saying is that someone like Cleetus that has a streaming platform could really do something at ground level with this and cut out the TV dicks all together.

You may be on to something. Justin Swanstrom did a run at a Cleetus event awhile back and just recently was part of a big event at Bradenton(I think). Maybe Cleetus is working on it.

The very first time I went to YB was in the summer of 2017. My company sent me from RI down to Arlington for 4 weeks to babysit a rental rig of of ours. There wasn't shit to do after work so I started looking up race tracks and found that YB had "street night" on Thursday, Texas Motorplex was on Friday and Cedar Creek did grudge nights on Saturdays so i went to all 3 the first week. I got to YB that first Thursday night around 9pm and was floored at what I was seeing. The best way I could describe it was that "sombody figured out how to put a fence around an illegal street race and charge admission." It's 100% run what you brung and helmets, fire suits and seat belts are just suggestions. Crazy shit! Needless to say the Motorplex and Cedar Creek trips the next nights were lame as fuck in comparison so I stopped going to those places and just stuck with YB for the remaining weeks i was here. Second week I went Boosted GT showed up at about 1am with his Yellow small tire Mustang from Street Outlaws on an open trailer to make some test hits. Dude was cool as shit and let me get a really good look at the car and engine. His burnout was impressive compared to everything else running that night but when that dude let go of the trans brake and that car took off I was speechless. His car launching and heading down track looked like someone had hit the fast forward button on real life. Until then I had never seen or heard of a car on a 28 x 10.5 slick that could go that fast on a "track" that has a worse surface than the street. Mind blown...

Going fast on a glued track in a race car with big tires and wheelie bars is fairly easy, going close to as fast on a small tire with no wheelie bars in what amounts to an actual street car is on a whole nother level in my opinion.

We need to go the Thursday night before the Small Tire Gangster race, all the racers are making test hits all night and all the regular Thursday night shit is going on too. It's quite the spectacle.

Pro tip: Don't bring your wife. Women don't tend to like sketchy places like that.

if you think about going hit me up, i may tag along. i keep a 40 handy.

IBB meet n greet?

I have it on the docket for tentative...

Yeah no wife, she's seen the videos of YB, back when I would put lookout on Friday nights.

Somebody care to explain all this code to me? YB around Dallas? April have a date? Thursday? What time on a Thursday? 40 grain of freedom, 40 Oz of liberty or 40 dollars at the door?

Yup, love that channel and I look forward to everything they post, it's always good stuff.

They're tired of being gone I'd say.

NPK and all the street outlaws stuff isn't classically scripted like your ol ladies real housewives shows. The racing is real, some of the interviews are certainly scripted but whatever it's a dramatic TV show so what do you really expect? The surface isn't prepped (improved) for NPK but it's rubber is scrapped off so it's not great. It's better than most roads though. The rules are kinda dumb but they must pay decently for so many to travel the country doing it.

There will be all forms of 40 there I am positive...

Like someone said about Swanstrom he just bought a used Pro-mod to race at Bradenton in March.
Noonan 4.9" hemi, converting from Liberty to TH400 and other shit to fit his fat ass.

Maybe hedging.

Also has another car "Blood Money" Screw blown Hemi/TH400

and "pre-nup" (NPK car) who won at the US Street Nationals.

That's a lot of bucks in cars....

Dammit, I was about to tag to keep me in the loop, and remembered I'm getting surgery and will be in a boot. Probably not the best place to be hopping around in a damn walking boot. If there's any fall races, give me a shout.

Who said something about Cleetus/Bradenton? TheFoat seems tied to Cleetus.

Absolutely good catch, but I'm confused cause it's called frdm+ now the Foat, unless I am confused?

Edit: I remember now, the Foat is a different deal, it's where the tickets for npk have always been sold. The year my dad passed we were supposed to go and I bought some tickets from that site.
