Stock Market 2021

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/elizabeth-warren-and-aoc-slam-wall-streeters-criticizing-the-gamestop-rally-for-treating-the-stock-market-like-a-casino/ar-BB1d9oZU?ocid=spartan-ntp-feeds

now we've got anti-wall streeters pushing for more regulations :lmao:

Progressive Democratic congresswoman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York echoed Warren's sentiments, tweeting on Wednesday: "Gotta admit it's really something to see Wall Streeters with a long history of treating our economy as a casino complain about a message board of posters also treating the market as a casino."

With stocks soaring while millions are out of work and struggling to pay their bills, it's not news that the stock market doesn't reflect our actual economy," Warren said in a Wednesday statement. "For years, the same hedge funds, private equity firms, and wealthy investors dismayed by the GameStop trades have treated the stock market like their own personal casino while everyone else pays the price."

Warren, a 2020 presidential candidate and one of the nation's leading experts on bankruptcy and consumer protection law, added: "It's long past time for the SEC and other financial regulators to wake up and do their jobs - and with a new administration and Democrats running Congress, I intend to make sure they do."

Nasdaq CEO Adena Friedman said the exchange could halt trading if it noticed a connection between discussions social media and volatility in a certain stock.

I smell trouble ahead, the markets ran too far too fast, like 99 in replay mode. I’m trenching in and getting small. Shits going to get real very soon. Tesla, tech, and crypto will be short investors wet dreams. If we would have had gradual gain from March we would be in better shape for the next year or two. Now we are bent over with our pants down waiting to get buttfawked.

you know there are people out there buying it still hoping it'll double again. I don't see GME staying like it is till next week.

today was frustrating. everything was down. usually when banks go down, metals go up. today everything went down.

Kinda hoping for a dead cat bounce by the end of the week so I can take some money and run on a few.

Bank of the Ozarks was up 5% and US Bank was down 5%, so i added some more USB. the "throw good money at bad" strategy hasn't had enough time to fail me yet

American Airlines was up 11% at one point today, Alaska was down 6% or so.

10 year treasury bonds were down a couple percent as well. overall, an odd day. I'm curious what next week is going to look like, i'm already over this one :rasta:

Most of the indexes were down 2.5%. A blip after the huge run up since the election. I will not be disappointed to see a 10% retraction. Markets been parabolic and needs a reset. Doubt we see more than 5-8% before the buyers come back

one of my top ten trading days in realized gains but only because I cashed out a lot of options positions I have been holding for a while and the charts were getting extended. Wanted to take a lot of risk off before FOMC and boy did I nail that.

think we gap down on open tomorrow. might be some good bounce trades. Have been cashing out or taking profits or hitting stops (CRWD was a surprise this morning). Nicely positioned on the remaining positions mostly options expiring in the next month to 6 months. Going to use the pullback to reload on a bunch of dated options

First T12 halt on a WSB stock and half of Robin Hodlers will be broke. Every major broker had platform issues this morning. ETrade pro was decent except for options quotes not loading. At least I can reach my broker by phone when I need. RH not so much.

The market has a way of bitch slapping sense into gamblers pretty damn quick. For every winner posting on social media there are hundreds losing their ass and soon to be facing margin calls.

happy trading, manage your risk

Yes. Through Friday

quote from the subreddit

apparently over the weekend they are mass planning to GTFO :lmao: somebody is going to get knocks on their door at 4 am "just to talk" about where their new few million $$ came from

This community used to be about making money. This isn’t supposed to be some culture war, old age vs new age investors bullshit. I joined this to make high risk mega reward trades that will leave snorting cocaine out of a senator’s daughters asshole on a 70 foot yacht off the coast of Spain. Don’t come here financially broken with some sob story about how you need us to hold GME because your one share is going to help pay for child’s medical bills. Buy what you can, get your money and get the fuck out.

 quality fawkin post over there on reddit, on that note, i'm going to stop reading it and stop cross posting it over to here :rasta:

I have been watching the GameStop deal since it jumped from $20-35 a few weeks ago. The irony that most are missing is they wanted to squeeze out big hedge funds with the short squeeze. Yay, great it worked. But all those greedy, novice investors will lose all their money when the stock corrects and it will correct and hedge funds and smarter investors will gain. So they taught one or two hedge funds to not short GameStop but they will make all the rest billions richer with money from their bank accounts. With that said, this situation has opened the eyes of professional investors to account in the future for the autistic retards on the internet as their actions can be unpredictable. To the moon. 🚀 :flipoff2:

Except for one reason, of course. Novice investors do not have computer programs, anogorisms, and some mouth piece screaming BUY while they pump it up and dump for a couple of pennies. Yeah, I think we broke the machine and are actually finding out that Companies are products and people. :smokin:

So for someone like myself who wants to get setup with a trading account on my phone with a couple hundo bucks, what's the best app? Etrade? I wouldn't mind gambling on the next gamestop deal.

Ive got a 20 year old kid who works for me that managed to do really well in pot and a few other stocks during the shutdown. Last friday he dropped a project we were on like a hot rock to play on his phone selling gme at 74, he got 71ish and made about 7000.00. He showed me his Vanguard app and he was sitting at about 40k total.

Monday morning through today hes been crowing constantly the reddit mantra of to the moon, paper hands, diamond hands, boomer ect ect ect. He cashed out everything he had and bought GME, he was at about 120k today. I gave up trying to warn him that someone at the top is going to win........

well, i hope it works out for him.

reddit seems convinced that if they never sell, the price will never drop. there was, what, 65 Million after hours trades today on GME and BB and AMC? there will be plenty of people willing to sell and undermine ya.

edit: To be clear, this is EXACTLY what i felt/said about TSLA going over $200 a couple years ago, so i'm obviously not capable of making 120k in a day or a week on stocks, i'd be out at 10k :flipoff2:

For someone with that little I would recommend e trade. I'm not sure on fees with that much in the account. May need to keep a few thousand in it to not get fees not sure. Robinhood doesn't have fees or a minimum I believe but it is not super stable, always here about it crashing and people having trouble during high volume times.

I have etrade for my personal accounts and don't really have any complaints.

i opened my etrade with $500 and had no fees on the account.

if you open with however many thousands of dollars they will pay you extra to join them.

I told him I hope he make billions and then he starts spouting how he tried to get me on the rocket ship and drew a stock chart with a spaceship at the end with a line after it that extended off the paper onto the wall a few feet with a diamond at the end. Kids these days are retards but they may chamge the world with this, for better or worse.

But what do I know? On paper I lost 120k today in the markets.

I'm using Robinhood and following the trends on Stocktwits. No need to pay the extra fees and "do your due diligence". No questions are bad questions, there are real people like ourselves taking a risk with their money, too. Just invest in what you're comfortable with, and in some cases, what you may be willing to lose.

that movie about the 80's dude making stupid money on penny stocks with the guy from the titanic movie and the 'ludes scene where he smashes his lambo trying to drive home from the country club

comes to mind for the "these kids these days" comment

Robin Hood is fine. Hell, every single brokerage was having issues today. I bought and sold gme on Wells Fargo without knowing the price I bought it, what the current price was, or what price I sold it, because it wouldn't show up in my portfolio. But, it let me sell it by manually entering a market order.

10 minutes later I got the transaction email and saw I made $10 a share.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Just invest in what you're comfortable with, and in some cases, what you may be willing to lose.

And if you're jumping in a newbie now, just know you're probably going to lose half your money. Don't chase the idiots saying 'to the moon''!

But something undervalued and hold it.

Next up they are gonna have to find a way to keep people from talking about stocks online:homer:

watching and enjoying the shitshow with gamestop and wallstreet getting their asses handed to them

Not sure if this belongs here or not. I see this morning that the reddit users are targeting Dogecoin, apparently they want to drive it up to a dollar. I've never dabbled in this kinda thing at all but I may just buy a pile at literally nothing just to see if they do get it there.
