Sore Dick Deals

:lmao:

So, how'd you do that? I have some things where that ability would come in handy.

Well shit, I saw the screws on the bottom side of the box and assumed those were what held it together.

But that pic confirms what I suspected. A little brain box that converts the low voltage signal back to 12v to actuate the contactor.

So theoretically you should be able to just repin the socket to the standard Warn remote. Ideally, you'd need to see if you can matcht he pin style so you can add in two more pins where you could use the wireless remote too, but with a mimimum of 3 pins you can at least use the older style wired controller.

Or maybe better yet, see if the Badlands connector is something more standard and just completely swap out the socket and go with the $60 Badlands wired/wireless controller. I almost think that would be preferable. It looks like Badlands uses a simple round 5-pin plug/socket that many other brands use and the sockets can be found for around $10.

I'm sure there are some safety things incorporated in to that brain box, but fuck it. None of my older winches have that shit.

Everything's a project that needs improving with you people, isn't it?

I'll be eagerly awaiting the build thread.

Deal of the day: EF ECOFLOW 400W Portable Solar Panel, Foldable & Durable, Complete with an Adjustable Kickstand Case, Waterproof IP68 for Outdoor Adventures Amazon.com

Don't know the market or need one but saw an article about them

The being a Warn vs "Badlands" is a silly thing for me but kinda matters. I'm ok with being broke, I just don't like advertising it to the world by bolting something from Harbor Freight front and center on my rig.

S'why I keep a winch cover on mine and just don't get stuck :flipoff2:

Holley has some black friday deals going. I just picked up a Terminator X for a few hundred off. Had better pricing than Summit.

Benchmark Abrasives is 10% off for the BF/CM sale. Just restocked my grinding wheels, flap discs and sanding belts for the year.

That is still double what it used to be 2 or so years ago. Glad I got my cordless tools when I did.

Deals are not deals anymore.

Downside is that isn't the XR (brushless) versions. That was the first set of DeWalt I purchased in 2019 (for $119). It fairly quickly got relegated to household duty and I got an XR set for the shop.

I have had that same cord for over 3 years now, full time in service and outdoors too, partly in a field and partly in the woods. Its been run over about 1000 times now too and zero problems from it so far.
Same here - I have a few Southwire in 50' and 100' and 12/3 and 10/3 versions. I do my best to not run over them, but otherwise they've stood up to abuse.

<$100 with the coupon for a 55 amp plasma cutter. I mean I know better, but...

How bad can it be? For $100 it’s worth a shot and yeswelder seems at least have a little support

Fuck you both.

I managed to not buy any shit for BF and you just broke me. :flipoff2:

My parker 40a that I got like 18 years ago on the old site is looking pretty rough. I'd probably spend as much just trying to replace the torch, or at least the burn up torch hoses and wrap. Plus, it doesn't have pilot arc, which will be really nice.

I just wish the pile of consumables I have for the old machine would work in this one.

I talked myself out of it, then mentioned it to Jewels on our way to our 3rd Thanksgiving yesterday, and she said "Merry Christmas." Of course by then the $40 coupon was gone. I probably checked half a dozen times. At 12:01 AM this morning the coupon was back, and I gave in.

It's $126 with a $12 coupon now. Still seems too good to be true. Hope I don't regret it, but I've spent $100 on dumber stuff.

Fuck all three of you. It’s $252 CAD to my door ($50 of that is freight) but if it’s like the everlast 50 amp I had years ago; it should save some time. I guess I’ll be cutting a man door into my seacan sooner than I thought

Instructions leave a lot to be desired, it's pretty simple to figure out where stuff goes. The external pressure regulator/dryer feels cheap, but I mean $99 plasma cutter. Screw head/washers for the regulator bracket are too small for the slots. They give you about 4' of vinyl hose to go from a push lock on the regulator to the push lock on the plasma, you only need about 8". It came with another push lock fitting for the regulator but didn't come with a quick connect, it's 1/4" NPT threads like most things this size. I have a stash of fittings and Teflon tape on hand. Instructions say that the regulator is preset from the factory and that you shouldn't need to mess with it, mine was on zero and nothing happened when you pulled the trigger. I turned it up until the front gauge read 30 and then it made an arc.

The claimed 10% duty cycle doesn't instill a lot of confidence, but for the occasional hack fab I do, it's a welcome addition to my arsenal of things to really screw other things up with.

It came set at max power, I guess that's what the dial does, I haven't read how to actually use it yet. Regulator on 30, panel dial on 35, plugged into the 110V adapter, it burned right through 3/16".

My super shaky freehand, I forgot the smell of plasma cut steel, it's been 15 years or more since I used a plasma cutter.

It's really light weight, looks like it would have way more mass to it than it does.

Tentatively optimistic.
