Sore Dick Deals

All you new winch owners. $48 when you add it to the cart, was only $8 for the cheapest shipping for me.

Do we know if this winch is compatible with synthetic line? I seem to remember there being an issue with worm drive winches having brakes in the drums back in the day, so a wire rope winch couldn't necessarily have synthetic put on it.

I know they sell a EVO10-S that comes with synthetic, but i'm asking if there's any difference in the winch itself between the 10 and 10-S other than what line it comes with.

I have been running this line on my MJ with EVO10 for years now with no issues. Swapping out the steel cable is very easy.

I broke down and ordered one. I already have a 12k bad Badlands Apex and it's 5k little brother sitting on the shelf for a trailer build that never happened, but hard to pass up a sub $300 warn.

Isn't the EVO the Chinese entry level version? How much are you gaining over a Badlands winch?

Well it's cheaper by the time everything is said and done, 7 year warranty vs. 90 days, Warn will likely continue to have parts available for a long time, I can use the credit and get the wireless remote and hack up the wired remote to run to my incab control in my dash for the suck down. I'm not sure there's a reason to buy the Badlands over the Warn. I don't think I'd have a issue with either but it was $440 to my door before any credits or rebates, the nearest HF is 35 miles round trip plus time.

You can't get a badlands for $300

The 9500 Badland is $300 now. The rebate is a definite, but the credit often seems to end up costing more money or not getting used. The warranty difference is definitely a selling factor. Not sure about parts since they're both Chinese. The warranty helps that, though.

Just trying to weigh the differences.

I was talking about the Apex. I didn't even realize they had a 9.5k Badlands now. Either way, I'd take the warn over that one. For the same price, I'd take the 12k Apex over the warn, but at the current prices we're talking about, I'll take the warn.

For reference, one of the main features I look at for cheap winches is no load speed -
In feet per minute:
Badlands 9.5k - 25.9
Warn Evo 10 - 26.2
Badlands Apex - 31.5

It's cheaper even without the credit to my door. Time savings, fuel savings, cheaper, bonus credit and better warranty.

The being a Warn vs "Badlands" is a silly thing for me but kinda matters. I'm ok with being broke, I just don't like advertising it to the world by bolting something from Harbor Freight front and center on my rig.

Any axle shaft deals or something besides a fa*king wench .......I gotta buggy to basically rebuild lol

I resisted that winch for a long time. One on its way now.

The warn looks better. :flipoff2:

Badlands is 210:1 gearing. Warn is close to 216:1. Good lord those are going to take a while to winch something onto a trailer.

A large factor in me getting a $300 crusty XD9500i off marketplace was as much the style and brand name, reputation too. Even though I could get a new Badlands for the same price.

Thanks. My concern was (I guess old?) worm drive winches like that had the brake inside the drum, which caused it to heat up a ton and would melt synthetic line. I guess it's not a problem anymore.

I have a 8274 on my rig with synthetic line, worm drive winches are slow :flipoff2:

Only common(ish) winch I know that uses worm drive is the PTO Braden M10000 and hydraulic tow truck winches.

Modern winches are planetary and your 8274 and the Belleview winch it replaced were spur gear.

Winch showed up today. Pulled it into the house because my shoulder is fucked and it was raining. Will open it tomorrow and see what paperwork is inside. Wife asked why I bought a winch. Told her the cost, rebate and credit and got “oh, cool, ok”
Now go pick up some massive subwoofers in Dublin or Concord or wherever they are.
