Russia / Ukraine thread

Good read.

Did you actually read it?

Don't suppose you're connecting the dots here?
Yes, he's pinched that Russia no longer has the same influence in the world that the US does.

Keep in mind, he's as capable of spinning facts or fabricating situations to justify his world view as any of our US Presidents have been (probably much better than our current potato).

Here's a 2018 version of Russia's state of the union address. There's a lot of domestic policy in it, but head on down to when he starts talking about the Russian military: Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly

Ahh, dude. You REALLY need to re-read that without the scales on your eyes.

You completely misunderstood it.

Not being a dick to you. You don't even come close to what he said.

What you posted (2007) is the same he's been saying pretty much all along. And it seems he's making it happen, with other partners that are seeing their way out from under an imaginary thumb.

You guys don't get it. You have zero trust for our government officials and their actions, but somehow the powerful elite of other countries must always be telling the truth and want what's best for the people of the world.

ALL of Putin's complaints in that speech are him trying to rally anyone who might want to topple the United State's dominance in world policy. He's doing this by spinning that we're not playing fair to appeal to other countries that are also at a disadvantage. Shoot, he calls them out by name and details out how they can join forces to take away some US influence. Uh.. it's a competition for power being played by a bunch of power hungry people, NO ONE is playing fair and NO ONE is telling the whole truth when they step in front of the mic and speak foreign policy. If they all had to say what they were thinking, every one of their speeches would begin with "I'd like to be king/president/dictator-for-life of the world."

Do you honestly think that if the balance of power shifted and suddenly Russia was in the driver's seat or China and Russia, or China, Russia, Brazil, etc, that our lives would suddenly get better? That people in other countries would have their lives get better? Look at Putin's track record. Look at China's.

irony.

so your position is "he's lying..." based on what evidence? Other than... "because I said so"....

No one has asked me to provide evidence that he's lying.
You're claiming that he is as a response to someone pointing out that you're intentionally misrepresenting what was stated in the interviews you used as evidence of your other claims...

Man up...

EDIT: and to show how difficult reading comprehension seems to be for you, recently, note that you actually quoted someone asking for evidence of your claims he's lying...

I don't think I'm the one struggling with reading comprehension here, so it's ironic that you go to that as some sort of insult.

My actual stated position is that Putin sees the US as a roadblock to expanding Russian power and you can read about him bitching about it in the majority of his speeches over the last 15 -20 years. Which should set off alarm bells in more ways than one. Let's start with the fact that he's been in power for over 20 years and has modified the Russian constitution to allow him to stay in power. Totally benign and not power hungry in any way.

As for actually lying, there are plenty of papers out there talking about the Russian propaganda model. Here's a good one: Russia's “Firehose of Falsehood” Propaganda Model

Take it or leave it, call me names or whatever, I don't actually care enough to put more effort into debating something as obvious as the sky being blue or water being wet.

On Friday, Russia presented state awards to the two fighter pilots involved in the downing of the US MQ-9 Reaper surveillance drone that crashed into the Black Sea last week.

Presenting the awards to the Su-27 jet fighter pilots, Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu lauded their achievement in preventing the drone from flying into an area near Crimea, to which Moscow has banned access.

Russia has accused the US of collecting intelligence through surveillance flights that was then given to Ukraine to attack Russian targets. Moscow also accused the US of provoking the drone incident by ignoring flight restrictions imposed to protect Russian territory and said that Russia “will respond in kind” to all future provocations.

Say it isn't so...:lmao::lmao:

Why should we follow restrictions on where our planes can fly that exceed the requirements for the international treaties that we are signatories to?

Another one that makes no sense:
Appearing to prefer to de-escalate the downing of the multimillion-dollar drone, the US said it was not known if the Russian pilots had intentionally caused the drone to crash or that their risky manoeuvres around the spy aircraft were to blame.
Given that there is video showing that they physically hit the drone I don't see how that can be accurate...
Its not like they "accidentally" stumbled across it in a cloudbank, there was at least one pass prior to the one that hit it.

accident or not you don't allow your military to be portrayed as incompetent. You obviously say it was intentional and then give an award to the pilots.

From the Russian side I'd say those pilots were very competent and Top Gun material. They downed the drone with no shots fired and without loosing any of their planes or pilots. If I were the pilots I'd be "Yeah, I planned to do that".:grinpimp:

Our drone pilot needs to report to the arcade and spend more time on Afterburner before he pilots a drone again.
exactly what do you think somebody with 300 milliseconds of latency in an aircraft that's maximum speed is like 200 knots is going to do against a mach 2 capable air superiority fighter? They get to set the terms of that engagement.

If I were trying to stop from getting hit by one... Go slower?

Not if you ban them.:flipoff2:

nuclear self destruct
100mt should do fine

I know we'd respond the same way... but of course, that's "different."

Idiots. How would an arrest be able to take place to begin with? You'd have to storm in with military and kill a ton of them just to get a look at him. In other words, you'd have to wage a serious and successful bloody war BEFORE you can even attempt to arrest him.

These people that are talking all this shit, trying to egg things between us and Russia - every one of them should step up and fly over there and pick up an AK and get some. Stop talking shit and go do it if you care that much.

This entire situation makes me embarrassed and ashamed to be an American.

I know I'm not one of the blood soaked criminals running this place, but still.

You guys are thinking about this too hard. The arrest warrant is symbolic. The ICC does the same thing for other leaders of countries they don't like, but really, what power do they have? Who's going to enforce it?
Can you imagine being the guy who is told to go arrest Putin!

lol not much to do with Ukraine but while France burns up Macron is on tv telling his children to behave quietly remove a 2100 euro watch under the table. POS Elite.

2100 euro is a cheap watch for him.

I just happened to stop in a hublot store the other day, their cheap case started at 8000 euro.

Endless wars. So Rand Paul submit bill to Repeal "2001 War on Terror". He want to place these intervention wars back to congress. Well it didnt go far at all. The Military Industrial complex is strong. Failed 9 to 86. Of course it would, Where do you think all that donation money comes from? lol

Tucker sent out a letter to the presidential hopefuls about their take on Ukraine. DeSanta's said it was a territorial dispute. But quickly change his mind to Putins a war criminal an d bla bla bla. Said his words were taken out of context. BS. Military Industrial complex is in his pockets. Needs the balls to say fuk Ukraine.

Fuck putin and his shit hole country and this entire endeavor. He can keep on hollowing out his military and Wagner too. Ukraine and Crimea aren't his and he is betting the farm that it is. Wait until China decides to take the artic routes to the East. Ole pooty could hardly send a train out that way in protest when they do.
