What's new

Russia / Ukraine thread

I really hope your not comparing Zelenski with Churchhill, Churchill didn't jail his political enemies, Churchill didn't support a Nazi battalion, Churchill didn't shut down religious institutions, and I can go on and on with why Ukraine is NOT a Democracy and should not be compared to it.

.

Dude, Spacex Crew 6 was going up tonight, they had a hold.

How many people have they launched to the ISS?

And many more resupply missions.

. END, back to your regularly schedule thread.

seems like bahkmut will be in russian hands soon.

a lot of resources poured into a place that seems to have little strategic value.

Thats what was said about that place at least 6 weeks ago. Only pride and stubbornness at play. I heard both sides claim they are grinding the other down over a useless speck of dirt.

I said people representing their country on an international levels said he left months before they did. Do you or do you not agree with what I said.

Eta if you want to talk about cringe worthy go read your posts in the first 40 pages of the covid/vax failure thread. That’s truly cringe worthy. :lmao:

a war of attrition is a terrible thing, and russia has more bodies to send to the grinder.

That about the way I see it. But I think Ukraine has more bullets and ordnance than Putin has stiffs to throw in. We'll see. Sucks, fucking sucks that everyday people get killed over this.

I thnik Mikel will agree that this is Viet Nam, France and the USA back in 1962 all over again.

I think russia has more t62's to give to conscripts than they do.

it doesn't have to be good when you're not planning on actually keeping your soldiers alive to come home, it just has to be good enough to make sure that you kill one of theirs before your guy dies.

not sure how all the things we're giving them are going to be since they don't have the same 50 years of battle planning experience we do, but they sure do seem to make use of whatever we give them effectively, so I guess we'll find out.

without a doubt they have been greatly benefited by our more modern weapons and intelligence.

edit:
and in unrelated news I saw that lockheed is planning on producing a 'record number" of himars rockets and launchers since they're selling like hotcakes to erryone.

yay.

I still don't understand why the hard-on for Ukraine. Why do we care about Ukraine in NATO to this extent? Are they a major world supplier of something that would be beneficial to align with the west? Is it just about weakening Russia's position in the world? Or am I thinking way too on the surface and this is a front for the lizard people to make deals in the shadows.

Have you forgotten about the vast reserves of oil/nat gas that was found in that region?

you mean like all the other oil producing regions we've "brought stability to" in the last 40 years?

it does kinda make sense when you look at it that way though. "they've got oil, sow some chaos and war there, don't want them getting uppity"

IIRC when they parted company with Russia back during the Obama administration they had plenty of weapons of their own, but the Obama administration promised them we would protect them if they would give up their weapons

Yeah; Obama made them give up their nukes!

Ukraine had nukes!

It was Clinton in 94.

Create instability in a resource rich region, to say we're going in to liberate the people of that region? We would never...

My understanding was about getting them to get rid of the air defense system nothing about nukes.
ukraine had something like 100 ICBMs when the soviet union collapsed.
most with multiple warheads.
they gave them up and became a non-nuclear armed state when europe asked them too and assured them that europe (us) would take care of their defense in the future.
