This is NATO's problem. I'd imagine the most combat support Kiev would see is possibly air strikes, and while I support stopping Russia rebuilding the curtain, it is a huge gamble either way. There are consequences for action and inaction, it's a matter of which is worse. Defacto state of war with the Russians or watch as Eastern Europe is put under the yoke of Moscow again.

Now... If we get into a shooting war in Eastern Europe, do the Chinese seize the moment to take Taiwan? I would. Assuming the U.S. would be doing the heavy lifting with regard to NATO airstrikes in Ukraine, a Chinese move at the same time would place the U.S. in the unenviable position of having to fight on two fronts. We've done it before but that was a VERY different time with a country on a war footing.

We are in NO position to undertake operations of that caliber and our enemies know it.

My sis is there with her young kids. US embassy advised then to leave. They won’t leave. Her and her husband are convinced it would start WWIII and Putin will not invade. They rented a car for the month so they can drive to Poland if they invade or the internet is cut. They say the internet being cut will be the signal. :eek: They are nuts, she has no concept of what happens to Americans in this scenario. I assume one day I’ll just never hear from her again and never know what happened.

What is reason that US men and women should die to stop this from happening or beating it back?

Fuck that. I am sick of wasting blood and gold on other countries. Let the UN, Nato and the EU deal with it. We can do our share as NATO and UN members but we dont need to do all the heavy lifting.
