Russia / Ukraine thread

The Russian army is a paper tiger. It's vastly downsized from what it was and the spending has been drastically cut. Also maintenance on their equipment has been someplace for the leadership to skimp on so they can pad their own pockets with the "savings" in maintaince. It's always been a "blunt instrument" where they threw vast numbers of barely trained people at an adversary. That shit don't work against modern tech weapons systems.

FTFY.

I will say that I am completely surprised that Russia didn't over power, destroy the Ukraine army. It SEEMED like a total mismatch. Back in February it SEEMED like Russia was going to blow shit up, drive in and take Kiev, and all the goobers in the press were talking shit about the Bolsheviks going into Moldova and Estonia. Even Poland and Finland. Any of you out there in this thread ??
Well russia was fighting the Ukraine plus America and Nato. I think it was a combination of them thinking it would be like Crimea (sp) and this time America sent billions of dollars in weapons. Without those from the damn near the beginning of the engagement I believe it would have been totally different. Had Russia brought their A game from the start I think it would have been different as well.

Nobody seems to remember Zelinsky and Russia saying to potatojoe. STFU we are trying to work out a peace deal before the invasion. The potato couldn’t stop running his mouth. Almost like he was trying to get us involved. So it seems natural that as soon as it started we sent money snd munitions very quickly.

I was one.
I didn't think that ukraine was going to make it more than 30 days.

but then the west started sending them everything.
Russia can't compete with nato's economy.

though I have to wonder how many artillery shells we're going to send them. The numbers I've seen thus far say that the US has sent them nearly a million rounds of 155. We certainly can't keep up that kind of delivery schedule without impacting our own strategic position.
Well the Potato has been weakening us by design. The artillery is just one more thing. Petroleum reserves? Check. Artillery ammunition? Check. Billions of dollars weaking our economy? Check.

I acknowledge the limitations in the Russian military. But I also think morale, moral conviction has something to do with it. At least the will to win. And I think Ukraine has more of it than the Russian conscripts or their corrupt paid off officers. Whoever maintains and supplies their machine. It was some time ago, but remember when the English invaded the Falklands ? They should have lost easily. Classic military doctrine states a 3-1 superiority to attack a an established defense. Couple that with an island thousands of miles away. But as soon as a tiny elite professional army hit the rocky shores, the Argies started surrendering. No will to fight. To a lesser extent, the Iraqi army in Kuwait but our tech edge was complete there.

If that had been our forces on the Russia/Ukraine frontier, I have no doubt that we would have been in Kev within two days. Maybe I am blinded with patriotic propaganda bullshit but I think our armed forces by any measure are the best on the planet. Right now at least.

we would have bombed them into the stone age before we ever committed ground forces, and then we would have supported those ground forces with CAS and even more strategic bombing.
Russia has never had air supremacy in mind with their air force, just air defense.

Do these meme type shit people throw up come from a stash on their hard drive or do they search " gayest ever" which is then data mined and applied to the other shit harvested of the web ?

Its amazing the view points on the Russia Ukraine conflict. Dont get me wrong I am American patriot. My grandson just got out from an 8 year stunt. He worked on the patriot missile batteries. 2 tours in Afghanistan, one in the middle east somewhere. While in Germany we was forced to take wokeness classes on excepting the LGBTQ. He took an early out Half his company did likewise. Our military is going full woke.

EU is in big economic downfall, NATO was only there because of the US we did most of the financing. Trump mentioned this. The US economy is also in a downward spiral. We have greenies that wont let us mine our materials so we purchase them from other countries. Biden has severly restricted our oil resources and is draining the reserve. We are trillions in debt. Everything the US produces now cost an arm and a leg. The defense budget is extremely high for what we get out of it. Minimum wage is out of control..

Russia is debt free. They havent had money to build ships. Russia hasnt capped of their mines they are mineral rich and havent even touched those or their oil reserves. The agricultural is in full gear. The Russian economy is in full gear. The Russian military complex is pumping out war equipment. This is where America should be and were not.

Only the Black sea area ports dont freeze over in winter. Their fleet is a pile of crap. They know it. While NATO was bringing in all the countries and supplying them with nukes and weapons Russia on the other hand did what they could afford to do thats Missile technology. For years they worked on this. They have the best and the US knows it. So yeah we can sink the crappy black fleet but in return they would fuck up our fleet real good with missiles which they have a ton of. We have trillions of dollars in our fleet the payoff would be awful.

Ukraine has no industry to support this conflict nor money. They are a US welfare state. Depending on US and EU money in which is causing more debt to us and those countries. This isnt going to end well for Ukraine, NATO or the US. This conflict is the beginning of the end of EU and Nato. The US cannot afford propping up NATO anymore but we will toss endless amount of money and weapon into it adding to our debt.

This a conflict in Russia's backyard in which they will not lose, its not Syria. We need to focus on America and regain our prosperity before its to late.

?

Does this obviously not look like a m30a1 rocket's damage given that they army showed it to us and it looks like the same kind of damage?
Have we not given the rockets to ukraine?

I don't care if it's a bunch of ukrainian trucks blown up for propoganda. Did I say anything about the owner of the trucks, or ask anything other than questions about the munition?

The question was, how much does one cost, and the statement was look at how well it works.

This is why the fucking thread merge sucks balls. We used to have a separate thread dealing with the technical details of shit, and not a bunch of stupid ass politics.

and you should be willing to at least entertain the possibility that you might be wrong. Lest you appear as gullible to me as I do to you.

Also one of the 20 reasons trump was impeached was for slowing down that arms deal to Ukraine in exchange for dirt on the bidens. Just more odd shit that makes you go "huh".....

Oh, the fact that it was in a park alongside other trucks, like a parking lot?

There was no thread merge, are you high? Unless page 285 has adopted you.

I ALWAYS do. But I do my homework, and am trying to look at the BULLSHIT with clear eyes.

I thought you put in the effort to do so also, I may have been wrong.

again, I posted a video, with no comments other than asking about the munitions claimed to be involved.
I didn't say a damned thing about the veracity. Did I post that shit and say "Whhooooooooo fuck them ruskies I stand with ukraine!!!!!!!"?

everything that you think I inferred happened all in your head.

Fair bait. I guess.

I can appreciate you wanting to get some of that.

Can you identify these people, and how many cameras were involved?

Tragically embarrassing.

I don't even know what the fuck you're on about at this point.

you wanna talk about the weapons system and how much it's costing US taxpayers to give it to ukraine or not?

well I'm so sorry that I posted a specific question about a specific thing and then wanted to talk about that specific question and specific thing.

apologies.

In the future I will simply defer to your all knowing and omnipotent world view, since you've said you did your homework.

I don't get it. What are they trying to show us in that vid, what's their point?

It's funny how little that Z is. Even the women around him are bigger than he is and can kick his ass.

Do you know who is being shown around?

No, aside from that little gay man, I don't know anyone else in that video.

No, aside from that little gay man, I don't know anyone else in that video.

It is the newly "elected" UK Prime Minister. The one no one wanted before Truss.

He's independently wealthy.

Sure didn't give 2 fucks in that vid. I"ll call you "motions phone" , slaps his assistant, "we'll get back to you this week".

Yeah it would be interesting what the Himars cost. Seems like Poland in buying 500 of them or we may be the one buying them for them.

the HIMARS vehicle themselves cost like $3 million a pop.

I want to know what the cost for a rocket is when ukraine kicks a half a dozen off them off at some trucks that cost russia 10K.

best estimates I've seen online are anywhere from 100 to 200K per, which means every time you see the video of a himars firing it's anywhere from 600K to 1.2 million dollars up in literally smoke.

Roughly, $222,900 per GMLRS missile. But we should highlight that this is the "export" price, which is always higher compared to the one charged for a domestic buyer, just like in the russian federation.

So, for the U.S. Army, the approximate price tag would be around $100,000 per missile. Also, there is a notice that for Finland, the "actual dollar value will be lower depending on final requirements, budget authority, and signed sales agreement(s), if and when concluded", i.e. depending on what types of missiles will be sent in the end.

oh, and apparently we're coming to the realization that giving them al the artillery shells is a bad idea.

but it's OK, we're just going to spend some more money
The Biden administration on Tuesday sent a letter to Congress seeking an additional $37.7 billion in funding for Ukraine. The funding includes $21.7 for the Pentagon to be spent in part to address weapons shortages, according to a White House fact sheet that says the money the Defense Department spending is for “equipment for Ukraine, replenishment of Department of Defense stocks, and for continued military, intelligence and other defense support.”

The $37.7 billion request comes as Republicans are projected to reclaim the House majority in the next Congress, which could make it more difficult for the Biden administration to authorize funding to Ukraine next year. House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy has said Republicans won’t give Ukraine “a blank check” – though he also clarified to his conference’s foreign policy hawks that he supports continuing to fund Ukraine’s war – and there are numerous Republicans pushing for a significant curtailing of US aid to Ukraine.
