Russia / Ukraine thread

:lmao:

Ukraine got hit again today with a massive cruise missile attack. Every MSM reported Russia is out of Cruise missiles. Ukraine power authority came out today claiming they can no longer repair or maintain the power infrastructure. Russia also announced today there will be no ships entering or leaving Ukraine without being inspected by them. 85K of the draftees are now on the line somewhere. The Chechen's head quarters got hit last week by Ukraine rockets and they lost about 30 soldiers and almost lost the Chechen leader.

Interesting;
It appears the reactionary armor was repositioned more upward to deal/counter the drone attacks.🤔
The more oblique the angle, the more effective an ERA block can be. You will notice even on side skirts with ERA blocks added on some tanks like a T-90, they are angled inwards towards the bottom at at least 5°. Kontakt-1 like that is only good on HEAT penetrators in direct attack though, kinetic weapons aren't phased by plates that thin. Kontakt-5 and Relikt have much thicker plates that will degrade a DU sabot round somewhat effectively.

I'm an aircraft guy; not a armor guy.

I remember in the '91 Gulf War; Abrams tanks would shoot a sabot round, quickly followed by a HEAT round while engaging Iraqi armor.
I thought that was interesting.
There's two charges.
The first part of the warhead detonates and destroys the ERA on contact, then the second charge is the shaped charge that spews that molten jet of plasma through your armor miliseconds after.
The russians jumped onto ERA pretty early, so when we designed the javelin we done engineered our way right around it. Why the fuckers cost 200K a pop.

That's a missile, not a bore-fired projectile, right ? Same principle I know.

yeah. It's our man portable ATGM.
We gave the ukrainians a pile of them.
like 5K of them, at $200K a pop.
effective but expensive.
The brits sent a ton of nlaws that are like javelin light. Still a tandem warhead, only like 40K a weapon.

I'll wager a simple 120mm (5-inch) conventional artillery shell buried tip up and set as an active mine would still blow the living shit out of any tank deployed . . ... . what do you think ?

The IJN buried 16-inch BB shells in the beach sand on islands after their navy was driven away or sunk. I dont know if any Marine ever stepped on one.

There are no front lines if shit can drop from the sky with gps precision anywhere in the land.

I’m sure screwzer voted for him. I’m just sad he’s not here to defend the guy. Hell, I’m not even sure he would even try at this point.
I think even he would have admitted long ago. I got that one wrong guys. Sorry.

ETA. He voted for him from the afterlife correct. Didnt he pass under Trump?
