What's new

Random stuff you made.

Usually strength.

You make a really shitty OSB or rotten plywood box with some mesh suspended in it and the 3pt attachment points poking out of the form, pour it full and you're GTG.

The concrete comes out cheaper than the steel if you were to buy new steel and even if you don't the steel you have gets saved for more deserving projects.

I'd honestly never seen a steel box until he posted his. I just assumed everyone did concrete.
Even though I would be using leftover steel from the scrap pile and it wouldn't cost anything, I'd still go buy wood and dump concrete in it to save the leftover steel for something else I'd probably never get around to building.

plans from BFM for the Omni 12 TallBoy

That sounds impressive! I've been interested in building a set of his Omni's, but have no real use for them, so they're on the list for maybe one day...

I did build my home theater speakers using his plans: TLAH fronts, SLA surrounds, curved SLA center, and THT subwoofer.

My dream.

:smokin:

Dumb question- how do you like the line array for movie stuff? I'm just thinking out loud because I don't really know... does it kinda weaken the point source? Like... pingy sound effect on the hard left... does it not blend where you can't really tell it was hard left?

(I have no clue on the terminology so what I just said might make no sense)

I have to say I don't know proper terminology either... This is the highest-end audio I've ever had.

I've never noticed weakening of the point source being an issue. And if I'm understanding correctly, I don't think it would be since the left/right point should be the same. Now, on the vertical plane I could believe it blends, but I'm not sure I'd be able to notice it.

Overall, I love it for both movies and music. It sounds so clear to me. I assume because each individual speaker has to do such little work.

Hell yeah, I have the THT plans but never built one...
Those LA's look awesome

Really trying to get some organization stuff done this fall...
And had to re-build my chain rack. It was in the ground, but I'm taking out a fence next to my shop to open that area up wider and give me more room, so it had to come out, shorten the legs, and put feet on it, and then I added more receiver some places to hang chain binders off the backs of the legs. Also added some angle iron to make the chain "basket" bigger for longer chains (it was pretty much overflowing before). it up and anchored it to the concrete.

Inspired by the chain rack I made this. Should have built it a couple foot longer but that was the stuff I had sitting around.

I could see it being useful for heavy repair type shit, or industrial stuff.

Friend needed some corvette parts.
Shift block thing, removed.
Rubber doughnuts in driveshaft replacement with alloy...

There's a swathe of in-progress photos missing here because I didn't bother to take them, but liberated a rusted out rainwater tank from my neighbour a couple of years back and turned it into a pottery shed for the girlfriend.
It's roughly 12ft diameter and 8ft high inside. Keeps her off the streets I guess...

This was covid times and I couldn't get any long timber, so I cut a cool Japanese scarfe joint into the rafters to make up the length. Can kinda see it in one of the pics...

Sail cover. I've only ever done sewing repairs before.
