Going to have to steal that one, need to put some closely spaced hooks to hang cow supplies in a cabinet in the barn, that should be perfect as I have a rake that is missing a handle in my scrap pile.

'Manifold' burrito cook tube - for lack of a better name - accessible from in the cab, just under your right knee if sitting in the drivers seat. 7x4" roughly - will get a hinged door with a latch later... Now I just need to figure out what send unit to put in the back so I can have a gauge on the dash show the burrito box temperature:smokin:

Turd polished the "free" zero turn Husqvarna. I'll say that the homeowner garbage at Lowe's and the like, is indeed garbage. I've got $500-ish in my free mower at this point, couldn't have bought one for that, and that includes some seasonal maintenance/wear items that a brand new one would have needed too, but this thing is anything but robust.

Ripped one of the rear deck mounts off the stamped deck at the weld, only welded on one side mind you, sometime early last spring. Wound up just mowing stripes in my yard with an uneven deck all last summer. I really didn't want to deal with disassembly and cleaning.

I removed the deck and pressure washed the hell out of it.

Got stuff more or less where it's supposed to be with the 4lb persuader and half ass prepped for welding.

Added some triangulation to my boogers. Even plated the deck instead of welding the brace straight to it, all professional like. :flipoff2:

I covered all the through cracks with boogers on the underside of the deck too.

Damn fence posts keep jumping out in front of the mower deck, can't imagine that has anything to do with the deck mount ripping off. :homer: I had to re attach the front left wheel, patched up some cracks, and added some reinforcement.

Rust-Oleum makes a Husqvarna orange enamel that just almost matches 10 year old sun bleached factory orange. I did attempt to use a wire brush, mineral spirits, and primed with some Rust-Oleum dirty metal primer before fogging everything orange.

While I had the turd polisher running full tilt, I went to town on the underside of the deck with the grinder and a wire cup brush.

I was surprised how much orange paint was still on it.

PXL_20230328_232540006.jpg

A bunch of mineral spirits and more wire brushing, and some more mineral spirits, then I hit it with some Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer.

I really didn't want to get the HVLP out or mix anything up, so I tried one of those 2K epoxy primers in a can. Novel idea, but shit execution. Way too expensive, for too little product, and poor coverage. Now I know.

PXL_20230401_175916906.jpg

I had two cans of Husqvarna orange enamel, so I went to fogging it all. I even sharpened and balance-ished the blades at some point.

PXL_20230401_205955619.jpg

Had it looking good as new from 25' away. So I covered it all in EZ Slide graphite spray paint, in hopes that grass won't build up so bad on the underside of the deck. It's got a picture of a riding mower on the label, it's got to work right? I used an entire 12oz can, if this actually works, I'll brush or roll it on next time. That nozzle clogged so often I spent more time cleaning it off and cussing than actually spraying. It had pretty inconsistent coverage thanks to the constant clogging too.

There, now I've got one fully polished turd ready for another 10 years of mediocrity. Better than a push mower. :grinpimp:

Making a tiny trolley to put my stick welder on a shelf. Never had time to finish it today because a friend had three rafters break in his house due to snow load. This is as far as I got.

It'll get lifted up to the trolley with skid steer, then slid over to the wall and lowered onto the angle iron shelf. Couldn't find a turnbuckle I'd trust with 400 lbs so cobbled something together.

I'm going to need to take it down in the future so the trolley will get occasional use.

One end of the unistrut got welded closed and the other end gets the bolt and spring nut to hold it from spreading. Also put little gussets on all the attachment points to hold the strut from spreading. Probably overkill, but don't really want the welder to fall on the lathe...

Lee I was also having fun with a Husqvarna mower deck last night.
Knew of hole in the top of the deck, so I cleaned off the deck with a angle grinder with a cup wheel and a needle scaler, found the right front corner looks like Swiss cheese and there's three or four spots where the top looks similar:

Digging around to see if I can find somebody who has a deck shell for sale, there is one guy who has one for 80, but he's an hour and a half away.
Would probably still be faster than piecing it back together.

aczlan I patched up a Huskee push mower that was maybe a little worse than that. I chased burn through holes with the MIG for a long time. That mower deck was on its second motor, so it had to have been over 20 years old.

I didn't do much to neutralize the rust, or grind/smooth down the underside. I got another 4 years out of it before the rest of the deck I hadn't patched up was rusted through too. That Husqvarna zero turn mower I've been fiddling with recently is what replaced the old Huskee push mower.

It's probably a little hack, but I've thought about neutralizing the rust, phosphoric acid, or whatever your favorite flavor is. Hit it with a good adhesion promoter primer, then smear a 1/16" of JB Weld or equivalent metal fill epoxy over it. Mix some chopped strand fiber in it, and you'd have a pretty stout "composite" mower deck. Basically an F1 or Aerospace tech, redneck mower deck.

I used this filler when I patched up the inner fender on the W250. While using it, I thought to myself, "this is basically, JB Weld in bulk," and thought of all kinds of stupid uses for it, including mower deck patching/reinforcement.

Probably a harebrained idea, and probably not worth the expense or effort, if you value your time.

Lee if I can find one for $100ish, I would rather go that route.
Found one for $80, but it doesn't look much better and the seller isn't interested in taking another picture :shaking:

GF wanted to learn some welding so we set out to make a couple easy animals and rose(bought the plan) to introduce her to it.

Oddly enough, too many triangulations, going to have to move to 2 wheels up front. It’s just too wobbly.
There’s a vernal pond behind the house that stays full enough to use this about 4-5 months.

The fuck it 5000 engine support.
My existence is gm fwd shitbox hell right now.
Years ago, a buddy & I pulled the engine out of his Samurai using a come-along hanging off a chain bolted together around a railroad tie laid across the open doors of the conex box that's his shop - worked fine, just looked hillbilly as fawk

That was a rotten fence post that for some reason had been out up in the garage before we bought the house. Only the part in the ground was rotten. So into service he goes.
I'm 4 bolts away from dropping the subframe tomorrow. But I'm cooked today.
