What's new

Random stuff you made.

A long time ago I broke the die holder that lived on our service truck, I was too afraid to tell my dad that I broke it so I built this one.

You have a service truck? Let me guess. It’s a 1949 gmc!

Random stuff my dad made:
He signed up to be Trials Master up North for our August event. This means he's in charge of everything. Setting the courses, gates, loop, etc. He's stressing a bit as he's never done anything like this. He's taking the week before the event and heading up there to get it done. He wanted a way to haul his little chainsaw, some loppers, digging tools, ribbons, course markers etc around without having to hike it all. So he slammed this trailer together this week to tow behind his bike,:laughing: Interested to see what he comes up with to attach it to the swingarm. told him he's gonna have to load his forks down with some lead so he doesnt just flip over backwards.
Dope ass little trials trailer though. I'm impressed. :grinpimp:

The mud pump liners are usually referred to as “file hard”. I use the chrome lined ones on the little pump but not on the big pump. I really don’t know if the chromes ones are any better or not. The chrome ones are supposed to be better if the pump sets for long periods between uses. I’m not sure how long the chrome stays in place before it’s worn through and rusting like the plain ones do. Drilling sharp sand and Or chert really helps ruin everything at a quick pace

Very cool.

Wheel attachment may fail mounted in bending like that?

what kinda metal do they make the barrels outta? One would think something like carbide with how abrasive that's gotta be

I've only worked on a couple of rigs (with 12x5.5 triplexs) that ran a carbide liner. It's all about your solids control, and rather than hammer the solids control people the operator paid extra for ceramic liners and still bitched about washing out drill pipe.

Generally you eat swabs when the mud isn't right or you were running on the ragged edge of what the rigs circulating system could do. Liners take a lot of abuse before they are to work out.

Huh, hadn't really thought about it, guess it makes sense that there'd be a 'settling' step before the drilling mud would get recirculated so all the sand and shit would settle out while the fine clay would remain suspended.

huh neat
wonder what the difference in axle diameter is, because the radial bearings versus the angular contact ones doesn't really make much difference

actually I've got a wheelchair in a pile, I'll go dig it out

looks like a 12mm bolt, so a little thicker than the typical 10mm guy on most cheap bikes

Any pics of the hitch on the bike?

Powder cure oven discharge tube messed way up over time. I was in there fixing something else and noticed how hot the burner box was getting. Thing was toast. 35 year old unit, new parts are 6 months out, so we made one. No roller but we do have a press brake. Works pretty dang good.

Stirplate for making beer. I've made quite a few that were a lot simpler, but they always threw the stirbar. I figured since I would 3D print the magnet holder, I might as well 3D print the box. I also wanted to test a newer 5V regulator circuit, so microcontroller it is. I gave myself 6 hours to do all of the design (box and PCB), otherwise I add requirements, overthink basics and never finish. Here is the prototype.

I did forget an in-system programming port and decoupling caps. Not deal breakers, but things I added to my checklist before sending the boards off for fab in the future. Also, integrated cable management would be slick.

Also, I feel like my knob is inadequate... common theme I guess.

Within a month you're going to reach down to grab something, and rip your arm open on that torch edge. Then have lockjaw a week later because you refused a tetanus shot because you think it's got murna in it.

:flipoff2:
Nothing so dramatic if that was mine- I'd just tip it over every single time I was near it! Needs a junk wheel base.
