I got a lead on an 85 extra cab and its threads like this that are really making me want to ditch my 3rd gen and go that route for race potential.

Hell yea, do it!

The front axle has been disassembled, cleaned, inspected. Everything was good and going back together. I am going to fill the diffs up with some thicker fluid this go around.

Is this stuff thick enough that you have to worry about some preheat when it's really cold out?

Yea, I will need to wake up earlier before races and cruise around the pit area.

I picked up my new front driveshaft recently.

Could get some of those magnet oil pan heaters also.

According to Amsoil it should work well in cold conditions.

- Does not contain waxes that solidify in the cold inherent to conventional oils, meaning it provides excellent fluidity despite its high viscosity to quickly reach gears and bearings at startup.

Race prep continues with radio checks, greasing shackle bolts, torqueing beadlock hardware and filling the T-case.

LOL, I always find something to paint.

The race truck got a fresh set of spark plugs today. Anti-seize and torque to 15 ft./ lbs.

What a race! Launched the truck during pre-running and bent the front axle. We got the truck back together, skipped qualifying and started the race in the back. I flopped the truck in a turn around mile marker 10. Got flipped back over and started working on the truck. The power steering fluid reservoir was cracked and empty. The clutch reservoir was also empty. I got the clutch reservoir refilled and was back on course with no power steering. Around mile marker 35 of 40 the radiator fan stopped working and the engine started over heating. I swapped in the spare fan relay and nothing. I bypassed the relay and gave the fan 12v still nothing. I made the decision to drive the last 5 miles with no fan, finish 1 lap, park the truck back at the trailer and help pit for our buddy racing 4500. Overall a great time with great people.
