I think I'm using the hip young jive right, I do know my onions

Yes and no. Dumping shit into the back of a $80,000 pickup with a 4 yd loader is not a kids job:(. There is zero room for error. Shit I still get nervous. Some day I’m gonna pop a lift cylinder hose and I’m gonna crush a pickup I just know it.

I always hated that. Sitting in a very loose 980 and see a shortbed pickup pull into the pit. motherfucker you dont want none of this:laughing:

Then they don’t understand the universal sign to back up to the like so the other half the bucket you are gonna spill gets near the pile.

All the yards bigger then a flower/tree shop around me will not fill a truck that doesnt have a guard over the cab. Although 1 yard will scoop 1-2 buckets into the back of my '96 f450 dumping stake body. They will not fill it from the side.

A new sign blaming it on insurance will keep the pick ups out of your yard.

Do you not have a skid steer? It’s be a perfect job for one of those bonus is they are handy as hell for cleaning up around the yard and odds and ends.

Skid steers are pretty terrible for loading out trucks. I think he has a compact wheel loader which is probably ideal for pickup loads if that's all you do, otherwise you make do with what you got handy.

All the local landscaper suppliers have skiddys to load everyone and a larger wheel loader for big loads and unloading semis.

I would think if it was just a 10-20 fee applied to all loads on not on a commercial account it would easily pay for someone working the weekend and the equipment. That is assuming you have 10-20 people every day. Harry homeowner is going to be willing to pay double or more what a commercial buyer will, the problem is dealing with the public.

Ideally you make it so the difference in price for the homeowner makes up for the cost of trucking for your small commercial guys and the homeowners will just get it delivered instead.

That’s what it is here, within 40 bucks for delivery vs picking it up at the quarry. Only time I don’t do it is if I’m needing a little bit at a few different properties or the truck can’t get wherever it needs to go. Just a hassle to make sure dump trailer is empty and run around town for a half a day.

the local stone/mulch supplier to me has a couple buckets for their loading-trucks loader. I dunno what the size of the loader is, but they have a tiny bucket for Harry Homeowner thats only 5ish foot long. looks pretty silly on the loader but I saw 3 shortbeds getting mulch on Saturday in 10 minutes, so they must use it a lot. That bucket held about half a ton of crushed 3/4, whatever that turns to in volume. They have a guy loading all day, another guy at the scale, and then a guy or two running the quarry down the road

quick change bucket, they swap between that tiny one and a bigger one regularly. Bigger one they use dropped 1.3 tons of 3/4 crushed in my trailer. Don't think it was quite a full scoop. again, no idea WTF size that is

a small bucket for your loader may be a good idea before your fear comes to fruition? Can't see it getting very worn, an old clapped out one would probably do it for 7 loads a weekend

oh, and no fee to load. but I'm paying $40ish/ton for 3/4 crushed. so I'm pretty sure they just build it into the price, and the big accounts probably get a discount

I get it delivered if i need more than a ton or two. but I realized then its a huge pain in the ass to spread it from a giant pile, easier to get a ton in my trailer and move it around and rake it out as needed

This bearing has a shaft protector which uses a nut to grab the shaft. It’s the reason why I didn’t fix the scored end. Once the nut is tight the washer tabs are bent to lock the nut.

Tossed her back in once it was all closed up. Went good. Hopefully it will go for another decade before I have to dig into it again.

I'm picturing something like a 4 in 1 bucket for a smaller loader - it has a "gate" that folds up so you can load the bucket out of the stockpile, then when it's down, it forms a narrower funnel so you can funnel the wider bucket in to smaller truck beds and trailers. I'd be surprised if it doesn't already exist, but google doesn't turn up much.

Do you have a good method of recording all the repairs you have done to the various equipment so you know what to expect when it needs repaired again? Or do you let it be a fun adventure when stuff breaks? :lmao:

lol recording? Yeah that is non existent. I really should keep track of everything or at least try to. However I don’t have the time. In the brief few hours after I got the screw put back together. Lost one tire on a loader, one code 62 fitting lost an oring and the solenoid for a dumptruck tail gate took a shit. You could tell it was a Monday.

This washplant fix was the first time I have ever tore into one of these bearings. Just by how much the screw was settled I knew the 2 castings were most probably wrecked and well as some damage to the stub shaft.

I wasn’t gonna take it apart then chance ordering the correct parts and wait a week or two for them to come machine being down until I got it fixed. The 2 castings they had in stock and the stub shaft was 6 weeks out. So I rolled the dice and pulled it apart know full well I was gonna have to do some kind of repair to the stub shaft. It’s one of those I’ll figure it out on the fly type deals.

I had it pulled apart by 2:00pm Friday. Was back together and ready for work today Monday at 3:00. Would have been done by 10:00 but I spent all morning changing screens and resetting a crusher to make a new stone for the boys.

Been doing this shit so long now it’s pretty easy to diagnose and repair this stuff. Tomorrow morning I’ll run up to the truck shop grab a new solenoid for the dump truck, then once that is fixed I’ll grab my shit to swap the tire on the loader. Then if the gods allow it I’ll get the pins made up so the excavator that is digging in the shot can get the buckets swapped as the one it’s using is just about wore out.:lmao:

It never ends. With that said it was a very good day. Sold almost $20,000 in material and the crusher made 1000 ton of gravel and stone in the half day it was going.

Probably pictures in his phone . Even though we have a pretty well utilized tracking system I just go through my phone to reference the last time we did a repair and what we did.

You also get a sense of how long things last and what the failure is going to look like after a couple of times doing it.

If you did a time lapse video you could probably start a youtube channel on fixing all of this stuff. You could be the next SyrupGuy.

Hire a videoographer (sp) split the YouTube revenue with him to start. Might not be as cool as the Australian eng channel fixing shit but shit fixed and making money again is getting it done, plus you will get expert advice from the comments.

There is a market here I promise...

Yeah that thing is useless unless you were using it to crush some hand picked high grade ores.
Or some bureaucratic hell wherein you can't get rid of at the dump, spread or bury old brick or CMU because it's "building debris" but you can crush it and spread it on a driveway.

I can see Tracyb having to deal with shit like that.

Or some 486 basement shit. Screen the fill you're excavating, let the rocks roll into the crusher and out the belt into your agregate pile. Would greatly reduce the mass that needs to be transported up and out of the basement.

I'm a cheapskate who'll happily do things the hard way and I couldn't justify a machine like that unless it was free.
