Panzers: I break rocks thread

Got an invite to go out to the case plant in June to operate their new loaders and give them feed back. Unsure if I’m gonna say yes or not. The pits would have to go on autopilot for the 3-3.5days I’m gone.

I forgot to tell the case bigwig when he was here for the demo days the return to dig blows and the bucket geometry needs work. I don’t know if they would like my feedback. :lmao:
I would go if you have the time.

I’ve been on the design team of two new products, 5 mW and 13 mW, portable generators in the last 5 years from our company.
Our company designed and engineered these with a lot of input and requests by the customers. We listened.
After we built and were testing the first ones the customers came and gave more input. We still listened and changed some things.

We been building 1 mW to 20 mW generators for 60 years but the industry changes and we know we have to change with it.
Guys like you that use it matter and we want you happy.

They dont want your feedback. They just want to sell you shit:laughing:
The right ones do listen. I'll repeat.. the right ones. Family we grew up with owns the local Bobcat dealership. We needed a mini. The Bobcat sucked, hydraulics were all out of whack. boom was twice as fast as the stick. Told my friend it sucked. He called one of the V.P.s to see if there was something that could be done. The guy called me directly and we talked off and for months. He came to town for a bobcat function and asked to see me. We don't own any bobcat equipment. He said we're not the target customer back then. Landscapers curl the bucket and boom up. Big hoe guys use the stick. He asked about lift points when we crane them into holes. Got a call from him when they released the E series saying the new machine would be more to my liking. Yeap, cool story bro but I had input on the design. Didn't get shit out of it but a leg up on the dealer buddy because I can call the factory myself.

If anything you get some free meals and hopefully can bank the per diem :lmao:

I’m I right to say, you might buy new crushers, but you never buy new earth moving stuff. If that’s the case, take your family boating instead.

This weekends project. The bottom bearing started making noise last fall when we were pushing to get our washing done. There was no time to fuck with fixing it. I finally found some time to get it pulled apart.

You can see she is fucked:lmao:

It was amazing I was able to get all the bolts out between the stub shaft and the screw. I thought for sure they would have been rusted tight. Evidently being submerged under muddy sandy water doesn’t cause the bolts to rust tight. These haven’t been off in over 25 years.

Once those were loose the whole bearing assembly comes out the back.

After getting it apart there was zero bearing left and there was sand packed everywhere. This is what the stub shaft looked like after i
Cut what was left of the sleeve off. The shoulder between the 2 diameters got fucked up pretty hard.

I figured the stub shaft was docked and when I went to order one they were 6 weeks out. I don’t have time for that.

So next plan is to either weld it up and turn it down or press a sleeve on to restore it back to size.

Put it on the lathe to start getting shit true again to asses the situation. Well turns out she is cast iron so I’ll have to sleeve it. Not really what I wanted to do but it is what it is. Tomorrow I’ll run to the steel yard to see if they have a section of thick walled tube to make the sleeve out of.

Probably would. I even do have that torch to spray weld. I need to build it up almost 3/16 a side. Not sure it would stay on going that thick,
Yesh, no clue, I only know it from CEE and Abom79 videos :homer: Although I think I've seen Abom spray it on pretty thick. IIRC he usually turns a coarse thread under it to make it stick better.

Sleeving it is probably the best plan but I was visiting with some machinists who have had good luck with metal repair epoxies in similar situations.

Got to work on it a bit today. Was constantly bugged by people looking for little loads of screened topsoil. Had to load 6-7 of them this morning. Don’t get much done when you’re doing this.

Turned the shaft down to 3.503”.

Working on boring the sleeve out to 3.499”.
Was taking .100” per pass with the boring bar. The little lathe was grunting. This is why I need a geared head lathe arse_sidewards instead of a belt drive. I don’t have the patience to take light cuts when you need to open the hole up over a 1”.

I also need to make a few pins for some
Excavator buckets. These will be used in conjunction with a quick coupler so they can be soft. I got quoted over a $1000 per pin for 100mm pins. Got the stock for 4 100mm and 1 110mm pins for $850.

The old c10 had her hands full. Thats a big load for a lowered pickup :lmao:

.1 is a light cut. :flipoff2:

You're probably feeding way faster than I do though.

$80 minimum loading fee should get rid of all the pickups and little dump trailers

fuck the $25 one near me is convenient for me but I don't see how they can justify it

It’s more of keeping the neighborhood happy. It’s extremely irritating but the last thing I need is a bunch of Karen’s complaining. It’s one of those things you just need to live with.
