*Official* Silver/Gold thread

gas bubbles make me think it wasn't fluxed
though properly refined metal shouldn't really need fluxing if it is 'five nines' or whatever hipster lingo is being hyped

dunno man
thanks for confirming my paranoia about ever buying that 'well it's five bucks cheaper' option

prices moving up is this a sign of changing times ? when the dollar goes up metals drop in price , when the dollar drops metals go up ! all the printing of money is dropping the value the the dollar . what say those in the know time to buy or too late to the dance ?

Not quite. If your logic held, gold would be $3500 plus. I would say, “When confidence in the dollar goes up, metals go down and vice versa”. The dollar has been going down (in value, not confidence) for years, but metals have been somewhat study. Now I would say confidence in the dollar is slipping, hence the rise in metals.

I recently bought a couple more ounces. Question is is $2K an ounce the top of the market or the new bottom?

Kitco charts seem to be broken, gotta find a reliable backup.

Finding a buyer at 2k+ may prove to be a challenge.
Well obviously you can sell to Apmex at anytime. On some coins, they publish a buy price they will pay for a particular coin. They don’t quote their “buy price” for general bullion, so you have to contact them. I imagine this is the same at most of the big online outfits. I venture to say they don’t pay spot. The question is, how much under spot will they pay? Does anybody know?

I have a local bullion dealer and he will buy at a fixed price under spot. He will also sell at a fixed premium over spot. He has a big digital sign on his back wall that constantly up dates the price. When you pick out a coin, he just looks at the sign and adds a percentage on it and that’s what you pay. I have bought several coins from him, but I never sold any. I’m courious what his buy price is now.

I don’t really don’t do much silver. I haven’t bought any for years. My brothers both do. They tell me premiums are very wide spread on it. They tell me when the price goes down, the premium goes up. To be honest, I have never sold gold or silver. I’m always in the market for gold, but haven’t bought any since it was $1800.

Ever use ebay for that stuff,?

I never have, but I’m courious. Have you had luck buying or selling there?

Never have tried ebay, was just curious. The prices seem high for coins on there

Damn thats crazy prices, i buy most of my stuff at auction. I never pay spot, usually close enough that the next bid would tag it. But i have seen many idiots pay way too much.

My 85 year old grandpa gifted all 16 grandkids these 1921 Morgan silver dollars during our big annual early Christmas get together this afternoon. All 11 great-grandkids (my son being one) got 1982 George Washington silver half dollar coins.

Looks like the 1921 SD could be worth a pretty penny depending on “grade”. Not that I’ll ever sell it. Great Christmas so far!

In that case, gold is WAAAAAAY behind.
yup, that or ahead if you look back to when it jumped up to the 1800 range

half the country doesn't know what a woman is.

Our civilization will rip itself to shreds before it advances enough that you'll see asteroid mining.

Is inventing and manufacturing the tools of ones own extinction a sign of stability and rationality?
