This is my guess as well. I know Deere offered high crop versions of 20 series tractors in the 60's and 70's, just from looking at parts/repair books. The pictures in those books made it look like maybe a 2' lift. The one above is obviously not factory with the chain drives, but probably some home brew version of a high crop.

I'm surprised it makes more sense to build specialty vehicles than it does to just build specialty carts or attachments to handle the dies.
I bet that thing is the cat's ass for gravel road maintenance.
That thing would suck ass for doing road maintenance or anything else , gimme a real blade for that kinda work

Not really too short and too light. My 32,000# grader has a hard time cutting the gravel roads around here. I almost need to get a carbide point blade to put on it.
My old man had one years ago. Perfect for grading asphalt base on small commercial jobs.More pictures:

Or snow removal. Make winrows then scoop into dumptruck.
We use regular dirt buckets. Which feels like chineese water torture compare to a proper snow bucket, but whatever, paid by the hour.
