Nord Stream Pipeline

Random outside-box thought: China and NorKo have submarines. 'Twould be mighty crafty to slip in, deposit charges on timers or remotes, and slip out; leaving US, Russia, Germany, etc. in a finger-pointing circle jerk.

No evidence of that^, just considering all parties with means, motive, and opportunity.
 
Any chance the Russians were trying to store additional gas in the lines and over pressured them? I mean it's not as fun as explosions and conspiracies, but we also know their workmanship is known to be a little shady at times...

But more likely something nefarious, because it always is...

To have two failures on different pipelines at the same time?

I doubt it.


Your president admitted he was going to do it, then admitted he did. I don't know why this is such a mystery. Other than that I guess he likes to take credit for things he didn't do. :laughing:

Speculations Abound About Possible Responsibility For Nord Stream Sabotage​

As both the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines were severely damaged in international waters near Denmark this week by what appears to be deliberate sabotage, the international speculation about who could be responsible is running rampant.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen claimed the liquid natural gas leaks were caused by deliberate attacks but declined to identify possible bad actors behind the damage.

Swedish National Seismic Network director Bjorn Lund reported that the leaks came immediately after large explosions in the area. One blast registered on the network as a 2.3 magnitude earthquake near the island of Bornholm.

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen called for an investigation into what she described as intentional sabotage. She declared, “Any deliberate disruption of active European energy infrastructure is unacceptable and will lead to the strongest possible response.”

Several European experts and politicians have claimed Russia is responsible for damaging their own pipelines, although it is difficult to explain why it would be necessary to do so when the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin could simply leave the pipelines inactive. Nord Stream 1 has been out of service for several weeks and although Nord Stream 2 was completed shortly before Russia’s invasion of neighboring Ukraine, it has not gone into service at all.

European Parliament Member from Poland Radek Sikorski posted a picture of the Baltic Sea on Twitter with the caption simply reading, “Thank you, USA.”

Other posters on Twitter have reposted and shared video of comments by Joe Biden regarding Nord Stream 2 shortly before the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February. Biden said at that time, “If Russia invades, there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it.” When a reporter followed up by asking what he meant by that statement, he said, “I promise you, we will be able to do that.”


German media has reported that unless the damage to the pipelines is addressed quickly, saltwater corrosion inside of the pipelines will render both supply lines “destroyed forever.”

Meanwhile, as Russia has reported beginning additional mobilization including the conscription of new troops for the ongoing war in Ukraine, the U.S. Embassy has urged all Americans in Russia to leave there immediately.

The embassy warned on Tuesday that Russia may refuse to acknowledge the rights of dual U.S./Russia citizens and could deny them access to consular assistance, not allow them to leave Russia, and could even draft them into Russia’s military.
 
Both pipelines were empty (One was never made fully operational) according to original statements by the MSM. So WTF ? Also, "corrosion forever ruined " ?? WTF The pipeline (s) is hundreds of miles long. The explosions happened in a single location on each pipeline. Are they saying that every single check valve or similar is inoperable now ? The pipeline doesnt have any mid or intermediate points to shut off ? Really ? We have oilfield and pipe people here . ... . what do they say ??

They weren't empty, they just weren't flowing (hence why we have pictures of it bubbling on the surface)
As for ruined... if you shut it offf and replace the damaged section, then how do you swap out the valves that were also exposed? I have noooo freaking clue on that part.

I've seen talk about this pipeline thing on many news channels. But one thing I have not seen a single one of them mention is the impact of this on "climate change". The report on the news before and after focuses on climate change this and that, yet when this story is up all of a sudden climate change does not exist.

If we did it it’s just another reason for them to fuck with us.

What if they do the same to us about January and Chicago has no gas and the gas fired power plants shut down in that area.

During war anything goes. We are not at war with Russia.
 
Interesting take from another forum I’m on….

Russia. They can shut off access (or severely restrict it) to both Germany and Great Britain, but maintain transport capability through Belarus and Ukraine to Central and Southern Europe.

Now Russia can make the proposal to restore gas supplies to Western Europe, through Ukraine; if they control the four oblasts (Luhansk, Donetsk, Zapporhizia, and Kherson). 'Coincidentally', those are the four oblasts that Russia is trying to annex with their referendum. I think that's why Ukraine set conditions to counterattack both Kherson and Luhansk oblasts: to control where Russian gas enters Ukraine (Luhansk), and where the gas exits (Kherson) into Moldova.

There are two gas lines further north (Brother and Soyuz) which, coincidentally, matched the attack axes of the Northern GOTF last February.

Russia really wants that land bridge through southern Ukraine from Luhansk to Odesa; for the gas line as well as the other resources available in the Donbas region. Not to mention three major seaports (Odesa, Mikolaiev, and Mariopul).

Cutting the Nord Stream lines now makes Europe start to think about the winter and how can they restore the gas supply. It also sets up infighting in the EU over whether to continue supporting Ukraine, or cutting a deal with Russia.

Like I stated earlier, good old fashioned Soviet arm-twisting. "Peace for gas".

I don't understand why everyone is so worried about oil and gas.

Build some wind turbines, install solar panels, drive an electric car.

Europe should be building wind and solar not getting upset over fossil fuels. Bonjor go green

Germany should offer to pigging lines from their end, you know, to “clean” the pipeline. But actually a torpedo/missile get deployed. Only if Germany is so sure they’re done with their supply.
