Nord Stream Pipeline

 Wow.

A lot of finger pointing going on at the moment. 5 nautical miles deep where it was filmed bubbling up. That would be kinda hard for anyone without a submarine to accomplish, which narrows it down a bit...

Hey, Europe...

Maybe he has always had one, but are his handlers having to resort to ear pieces now instead of prompters?

1 was. 2 wasn't.
Whatever the cause of the damage, it will not immediately affect the supply of gas to Europe, as neither pipeline was operational.
The Nord Stream 1 pipeline - which consists of two parallel branches - has not transported any gas since August when Russia closed it down for maintenance.
It stretches 745 miles (1,200km) under the Baltic Sea from the Russian coast near St Petersburg to north-eastern Germany. Its twin pipeline, Nord Stream 2, was halted after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.
Although neither pipeline is in operation, they both still contain gas.

shrug

Sweden’s national seismic network said it detected two large undersea explosions on Monday near the locations of the leaks. Neither of the pipelines — Nord Stream 1 and 2 — had been active, but they were filled with gas when there was a sharp drop in pressure, first registered on Monday.

edit: shit, apparently sceep is slow at everything but replying.

So they shut 1 down last month. I missed that. :homer:

Explosions. Could anyone explain why the Russians would blow up a pipeline that they control, and can shut off in an instant without any damage?

Now the EU, Ukraine, and the US with ulterior motives, in the midst of a proxy war (that is going really badly for ALL involved), lot more motive there to blame the bad guys

Check out the Russia/Ukraine megathread.

Or it could be Global warming warriors trying to save the German people from the evils of staying warm this winter :flipoff2:

Quit thinking logically and just focus on Putin bad, everyone else good.

You know what is really odd?

I've seen talk about this pipeline thing on many news channels. But one thing I have not seen a single one of them mention is the impact of this on "climate change". The report on the news before and after focuses on climate change this and that, yet when this story is up all of a sudden climate change does not exist.

Very odd.

Well that Oracle Warren Buffet did it again, bought a shit-load of oil and gas stocks ahead of this mess. How do he know?
He was buying oil and gas because he's a value investor. It's basically the only sector that's been on sale for the last 6 months. He's been steadily buying for quite a while.

He may have given a few million to congresscritters to make sure this happened though. Edit, to clarify, doing this was absolutely in the interest of most of congress anyway, this war is good for business, along with cutting off certain oil and gas supplies for the long term. It's not like he would have needed to bribe them.

It was later in the day when Brandon said that the pipe was cut, he knew and spilled the beans. :homer:
