What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

So this is at least partly your fault :flipoff2:
As much as any CDN provider is at fault.

I didn't work on the actual product, just plumbing shit to and from the customer portal where you see and pay your bill so I don't know the exact details of how it worked.

I know GM was on our list of "partnered clients", or whatever the corporate the bullshit marketing speak was, for our suite of offerings that were tailored for "internet of things" companies.

I also know that the big three were using us to host all those stupid "build your car" tools with the click and drag 360 views and whatnot around that time so it might have just been vapor that was mutually beneficial for both parties to peddle. We peddled a lot of vapor BS like that that would be coming "soon" where "soon" meant "as soon as we land a big enough client to make it worth our while to go from demo prototype to shit we can actually sell someone".

If you can get root on whatever has the antenna (probably infotainment system) you can probably just fuck with shit so it can't resolve the update servers or complete the process but can still do traffic and maps and whatnot.

When you produce shit software its nice to be able to fix it remotely :stirthepot:
In practice being able to fix shit remotely enables as much or more slapdash garbage behavior than it prevents.

Look at how once automotive OEMs got comfortable being able to fix software in the field they instantly started shipping garbage and fixing it when the cars went in for service over the warranty period.

For big companies like Cat and Ford that have stakeholders beyond their customers and routinely kinda fuck their customers a little in order to keep the government off their case I would absolutely not trust them with that power.

So I’m thinking about trading my 21 GMC 84 in for a lariat F250.

The new GMC heater cores will be getting clogged up because they painted inside of them and it’s flaking off. I’ve already lost my drivers floor heat. Also the key fobs are fucking junk. Don’t work half the time with their proximity sensor.

Should I keep the GMC and fix the heater core or are the Fords pretty reliable even with the CP4 issues?

As was mentioned if you are gonna have it out of warranty swap in a DCR pump and enjoy the best truck on the road.

If you are warranty only then document the hell out of fuel drain intervals and filter changes and cross your fingers.
If it happens to me Ford better hold on tight for the shit storm I'll start if they try denying my warranty.

I pulled apart a 3996 hour CP4.1 today that had zero wear to the "bad" parts.

Either this site is fucked up or my phone is...

It's this FPT F34 engine

It's in the JLG built telehandlers, the little base model backhoes and the box blades.
It's got the gayest Bosch ECM and wiring harnesses made of dolls hair...

My new poverty model XL is linked to ford via satellite. They flash my truck remotely now and I have no way to stop it. You get in it one morning and the vehicle control screen makes you acknowledge the update before you can even start the truck.

I am grouchy about it this week because in the settings I had it to where it didn’t lock the doors or the tailgate when I put it in gear. They updated it for me sitting in my driveway. Now the doors and tailgate lock the second you put it in drive. And the settings in the dash to disable that feature is gone. It’s a blank slot now where you would go to change anything about the door locks.
So, with this constant uplink, will trucks tattle on you if emissions components are removed and the vehicle's software is modified?

Which engines are Kubotas?

The C3.3B and C3.8
They are in the all the skid steers/CTLs except the little chassis machines, 216,226,232 etc. those have a little Perkins.

The new 255,265 have a C2.8, C3.6 Perkins, yet to see if smaller displacement is better...
Thank the Lord the Kubota Honey moon us over

Totally possible, also totally possible (in theory) to un delete your truck in your driveway.

I heard a irate customer at the Ford house a few weeks ago. A customer was in there raising hell that the newish f150 would not pass inspection. The customer complained this happened the year prior when one of the ECMs had a outdated software that would not validate the obd readiness to enable a pass for inspection..
The customer had to pay for a hour to get the service tech to update the software.
Fast Forward to this year and the same thing has happened again and they wanted him to pay again, with the comment that Ford knows about this problem...

I’m interested to find out. I’m sure it’s tattling on me for all kinds of stuff. Idle hours. No seat belt. Shifting manually. What it perceives as panic breaking. The amount of times (per day) I turn off advance trac and traction control.

What I assume, is that ford is keeping that for themselves for when it comes time to deny a warranty claim. Then it will probably be collated as evidence of abuse.

Man....the shit that just aint even a bother to ya when you is po'.

They are gonna pull the "well, you never really own the software" bullshit that Deere did. Subscription cars are here. BMW just did too much too fast.

Not initially because obviously OEMs don't wanna play that card for free. They wanna get something out of it.

Eventually politics will happen and the OEMs will play the card.
