What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

We have one station in town with. Def pump and yes it requires a second swipe. I need to find out who to call because they have one price on the sign and the truck pump price is always higher

You have to join their special club :flipoff2:

I've had some issues at truck stops, fucking 100 questions just to get fuel. Then it just says "see cashier" instead of wrong pin after youre so frustrated you enter the wrong pin.

I swore off loves last spring after I was there for 45 mins just trying to get fuel. I had to use the truck pumps because 40' gooseneck. "enter lic plate number" "enter state" "enter blah blah" wtf, just take my money and give me fuel.

Then you go inside and it's some chick who doesn't give a fuck with 3 towel heads waiting in line to get a receipt they could have got at the pump. :homer:

Oregon gets even more goofy because they have some wierd non tax fuel, so you enter some code to get the tax free fuel.

I just finally used a pump that allows fuel and Def with one card swipe, can't imagine why that took so long for them to figure out. I'm sure some people have had problems swiping a card a 2nd time or 3rd time when the pump cuts you off at $100 (thank God that's changed also) then you need Def also.
Taxes, prolly

DEF usage is kind of weird on my pickup.

First trip to Colorado was pretty new 5k miles maybe and it seemed to use a lot, in Amarillo on the way back It set low tank alarm so I had to put some in it to get home and the 2.5 gallons I put in it was basically gone when I got home because the low level warning came on again.

This year with 9k miles on it I left full again and to keep from having to panic buy when it got low I stopped in Clayton at a def/fuel island and filled it back up. But when I got home it still shows full, so Clayton to home, 450 miles it appears I used no DEF?

Not sure if the wind was in my favor this whole trip, the Stanadyne lubricity formula or it's just getting broke in.

My 15 F-550 would go 4k on a full 5 gallon tank of DEF. Ford changed something.

My 19 service truck too. Once they updated the computer everything changed and it sucked down the DEF. I bet all these new trucks have that update too.

I've put 6 containers of DEF in my 22 since I bought it and put 20k miles on it.

Wierd how in consistent it is.

If my work truck started using a tank of Def every tank of fuel, I'd probably just have them delete it. Lots of other trucks we have are, but the 6.7 ford's haven't had hardly any emissions issues to make us go that way.

I have to fill up almost every day..... adding Def every day :barf:

My 19 used a lot of DEF when I first got it, used truck. Must’ve just been really cleaning out the DPF from idle time or stop and go from the previous owner. Now it barely uses any. So I forget to look at the gauge until it matters then of course it makes me nervous it’s going to run in the middle of I95 Nevada chasing a race :homer:

I do to, fill up every day or every other.

And the fuckin DEF filler neck is on the

I finally realized I don't need the turbo gauge, don't care about the boost... So I changed the turbo gauge to the DEF gauge and now I don't get surprised :homer:

Do you gotta be fluent in foreskin to make that change?
No if you have the digital(ish) dash it's just a change in the "truck" menu "gauges" tab.

If you have the mechanical gauges across the top of the day then you are stuck with what it is.

I never hear of Fords having emissions related issues. My service truck went 200k miles with zero emissions problems and that truck had a shit ton of idle hours on it.

I know one guy whos dad literally bought him a 13 or 14 lariat 6.7 new, he putted back and forth 4 miles or whatever to work and it wasn't happy about it. Oddly his dad bought himself the exact same truck, lived near him and worked at the same shop. No issues.

My personal truck had a sensor issue with the def tank right before I got it, then another sensor right after I got it at 170k miles. The shop I used said he sees all 3 like to have sensors go bad around 170k.

My father in law uses his 17 like a car 99% of the time and likes to warm it up for 80 minutes before he drives cuz boomer  he's at 220k with a few small sensor issues. One was Def tank something and one was in the exhaust.

99% I'd say you're right. Especially work trucks, even the Forman idling 14 hours a day, they seem fine? Probably cuz when they do drive, it's to the floor

They do shit like that because of company drivers like you putting DEF in the fuel tank and fuel in the DEF tank. :flipoff2:

My dumbass dad did that the other day. Put DEF in the diesel tank. He didn't notice what he was doing, until it was going over 5 gallons. Then his dumbass figured it would be alright, it will dilute with the diesel and be fine. He made it about three blocks from the gas station when it shut off. Guess who has a very big bill replacing the fuel system.:shaking: This is on a 2021 Denali 3500.

Damn dude that blows.
Not much to say about the how/why it's just like a hard hat sticker I used to have,
"Engage brain before backing":homer:

It happens just often enough that the dealerships use that to deny warranty claims all the time. CP4’s eating themselves is a known problem but even if it was just a run of the mill CP4 come apart. Dealership has to be the only one to work on it for it to be under warranty. They’ll say you put DEF in the diesel tank and deny the warranty.
