What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

They countered my $58k offer with $57, I told them wrap it up.

Yeah exactly it turns out after 11 months I'm not in a favorble position on resale as I wanted, I don't think I hid that fact.

I can tell you I can still afford it and the price I am paying is plenty good enough for me.

So ~$1200 per year to have a nice new truck? :smokin:

You can lock in at order date or at pickup in my experience. Its up to the dealer though, shouldn't be a problem though because the pco is basically a manufacturer coupon from Ford. It doesn't cost/lose the dealer anything.

The sales manager explained they will get a check from Ford for the X plan and PCO in a few weeks.

He also explained the dealer can deny to accept either of the discounts.

We had a long talk about shit Ford Corp has been doing to strip profits from the dealers and if I get some free time I'll post it..

AND on the X plan topic.
My pin expired that I used to order the truck, they are only good for one year and I created it in July.
So the sales manager says "oh yeah just get a new one, no big deal".
I looked at him confused like I thought they cancelled the X plan? He says "oh no it's back on, just get a new pin no big deal."
I mentioned to him I think I can get one from my employer, then he corrected me and said "but you don't work for CATERPILLAR though right?" I said no I work for the dealer just like he doesn't work for Ford. He said "oh yeah you can't get one from there that's only for Caterpillar employees." "Just get a new one from the stock purchase plan."

:flipoff2:

Hell, I ordered my truck while I worked for a John Deere dealership and picked it up after I had left and the dealership didn't care, just so long as I had a PIN number. I'm fairly confident that the Caterpillar X-plan offer is also for dealership employees because it is part of an offer to incentivize dealerships to purchase their trucks versus other brands.

Today is the day.
Shits getting rushed due to taking care of my Dad but it's worth the concessions I've made to expedite and be able to help my mom.

Cleetus killed a well built 10 speed in an F150 that had a bone stock coyote 5.0 and a Whipple supercharger. Hopefully the diesel 10 speeds are beefier than that.......

That dyno'd 865 whp :lmao:

I don't think it was that built, but maybe I missed it.

Also, the diesel/7.3 10 speed is way bigger.

I'm curious what you think of it vs the 2018. Mostly the 6spd vs the 10 speed.
Its got 54 miles on it now getting home.
I reset the lie-o-meter and it was on 19 when I got home, I never saw 19 on my other truck ever, that is promising for the reasons I wanted the 3.55 gears for.

There have been some clunky shifts but I expect that with an adaptive trans on its first 50 miles.

Since I changed the rear gear and the trans I won't have a way to quantify it exactly but the truck doesn't labor on decel at 65 mph like the 4.10 / 6 speed did, that combo is pretty gear bound and only ideal for a 100% loaded hauler.

Like I said in other posts my service truck with Duramax/Allison 6 speed is over 20k everyday, has taller tires and only has 3.73 gears.

Tell me about it. My son's tells me all the time how I should have got a 450.
Don't worry guys there is still time.
They'll be taking orders on the '24s in a few months.
:smokin:

Other than the axles, wheels and tires on the 450 is there anything else that's different from the 350? Hopefully the 450s don't have 1' thick rear leaf packs like 550s do.

No they are really the same thing outside of those details.

I think the 10 speed is the thing that will make a 450 pickup tolerable. The 4.30 gear ratio seemed the opposite of what I wanted to try this time around and the g rated 19.5s aren't really a selling point for me.

Ill keep this thread updated on my towing experiences.

The wider front axle allows the longer truck to turn on a dime. Mine has 18.5k miles and the transmission still down shifts like crap.

The trans programming on my 21 is horrible. Especially 3rd gear. I prefer the 6 speed.

Towing is fine with both - at least for the ~7k I tow. The 10 speed might shine under heavier loads?

19mpg is pretty impressive for a truck that size. Imagine how much better it would be if all that stupid emissions shit wasn't on there.
The absolute best I ever saw in the gold truck was mid 16 and that was straight highway with a 20+ mph wind at my back for a hour.
That same trip in to the wind I got 11.
If this truck actually can pull a 19+ on the highway it will be awesome.
My buddies deleted LML DMax in his lifted dually gets 3+ MPG better than is stock L5P 3/4 ton.
