What's new

New Ford Duallys are 6+ months out?

Ford's should have a light come on the dash to tell you when to drain the separator.

The maintenance schedule is kind of dumb. Check the Fuel/Water separator every month. Drain when needed or when the light comes on... How precisely does one check if they don't just drain it? So, is it drain it every month or when the light comes on?

There are guys on FTE who do it every oil change, do it every month, do it when the light comes on, etc... All of them have never had water, have had a ton of water or have had something in the middle.

You either trust the thing to do what it's supposed to do and tell you when you're supposed to do what you're supposed to do, or you don't. If the latter, whatever interval helps you sleep at night I guess.
So as I dumb guy with an old Cummins, Where does it drain?
My cummins there is a hose, but its' not really setup to catch it in anything, so it gets drained on the ground.
Are the new trucks still like this?

I change the oil and all filters on my service truck every 5k miles like clock work. I consider it cheap insurance against me getting stuck in the middle of nowhere or being without a truck for several months.
Same, very cheap insurance and no worries about fuel dilution etc.

My hack fix to be able to move my 19 after I broke the super stout separator valve. 2 6-32s and nylocks on an $11 part on a multi thousand dollar fuel system on an $80,000 truck. It worked, but I put a new one in today. Waiting on the billet one from XDP. NOT IMPRESSED FORD

I hope they changed the design on the 21’s +

Don’t they just use the inner dual or different offset?
all of them around here are SRW 350s/3500s with single 19.5 dually wheels on some narrow small-8 to big-8 spacers to put the tread on the tracks

prolly got the steering stops welded up too to keep the rubbing down

It seems like a "wide-track" front axle of a 450+ would be problematic to getting the narrow gauge.

yeah they're all really narrow, talking 5+" of tire coverage with the stock normal fenders, they're really pinched in there a ways

Damn, just built a damn nice 7.3 FX4 Lariat just the way I want for way less than I thought
Maybe have to ponder this a bit once I see what a realistic lead time is.

I don't think you can get a "realistic lead time".
My order conformation email from Ford contained this:

You will receive an update on your order within 45 days. We’ll let you know once we have the necessary parts and your vehicle has been placed on the production schedule.

Please note: High demand combined with global supply‑chain constraints may impact vehicle model year, trim and feature availability. Please know we’re working hard to deliver your chosen vehicle and features as quickly as we can.

Who would have thought that truck would increase in price over $10k in 4 years.
My 22 350 6.7 FX4 Lariat was $77k +/-. Around here the same truck is upper 80s now. I think the 7.3 would do all I need it to do and I may be able to walk away with a llittle extra $$$ all said and done. Mine's paid for, so there's that aspect too.

The game is to get rid of the high value truck ASAP, I couldn't/can't get rid of mine until after thanksgiving, so here we are.

Sales manager called and said the truck would be here tomorrow.

I asked if we are still on track with the pricing on the sales order and he said absolutely.

I asked about using my PCO ($2100)
and he said that would work too...

That will put me at $79,500 +TTL
The trade offer might be interesting...
