What's new

new 7.3 gas ford

They already stopped any more 2022 SD orders today. I guess they are going to run the production line long to try and get out the existing orders and start the '23 orders in Nov. I was quoted 3-4 months of waiting for mine. I'm now over 4 months and being told 8 months now...

I keep thinking this market has to implode but so far I’ve been wrong. From the chip forecasting it could be another 2 years.

Good to know, I wasn't sure when the '23 order banks opened.

I was quoted a long 7 months which I bet is accurate.

Burnout videos are forthcoming, right?

i wonder are there anything distinct to recognize a 7.3 powered SD, visually, at a distance (too far to read the badge or was debadged)? Diesels are obvious via the 2 tailpipe tips for example.

Is the tail pipe diameter bigger?

Lucky you. I ordered mine 4 months ago and still don't even have a VIN or schedule date yet.
Same boat

I bet they don't even build mine. They are going to run into '23 production if they don't get it together.
I’m kinda ok with this at this point, picked up a G56 Dodge dually a few weeks ago and sold my 19 Ram 2500.

If the SD shows up, I’ll cross that bridge then.

No engine badging on door vs the 6.7 having the PS badge. Edit: I see you’re aware of that, not sure of anything else.

My neighbor had a '20 model Denali duramax. Dealer called him last year wanting it back. I don't remember what he made off of it, but it was over $15k.

This has got to crash soon.
vehicles prices are not increasing... the dollar is being devalued. The vehicle price chaos will not stop unless the dollar increases in value.

heading up to McLarty ford to pick it up Friday. Its been a while since I have seen some old friends. I'm going to take a 3 day weekend.

No wonder I couldn't figure out where the fuck that was  Piney woods was throwing me off.

16 Ish empty, just like my dodge and ford diesels.

I figured you weren't one of those that reset it while cruising at 55 and then say it gets 25 mpg, but another guy on here did.....

i'm a little disappointed to hear 8 mpg out of the thing, but it looks nice :rasta:

Ya, that does seem pretty low for not being super heavy or lots of wind drag. My 6.2 never went that low towing ~14k in the mountains. Maybe it's got some break in tune deal?

It's interesting because at about the same weight, that's what my 460 4spd and 400 3spd run about.

Not quite that good, but 10% ish of that. Was hoping to see loaded closer to or above 10mpg out of a new rig. Cruise control set at 85mph?

I average 11-12 hauling 10-15k at 75ish. I'm not calling bs but that's low from my experience, howevermost of my towing is pretty flat, I do have 3.73 though. Liftime avg 13.5 mixed at 20k, 15ish on highway and 10-12 in the city. Best ever was 17 and change running 55 on county highways.

That's more what I figured to hear as more common.

mpgs mpgs mpgs.

they follow the user. i 100% dont believe anyone ones mpg bs anymore.

in the last 4 yrs i've been towing with others towing similar loads. so same speeds terrian... wildly varying hp, tqs and what not. sure the guy in the 6.7 diesel gets a little better but a the the same speeds. that puney 5.4 i used to run was still cheaper per mile. ran the fuck ragged but it had less problems.... even on my second stupid tow rig, buyin price and all i'm way tf ahead.

we stop at the same fuel stops get to the same place at the same time, and it all really isn't much of a difference. all rigs are 2010 and newer. and i usually run the most clapped out, lowest buy in, of them all.

the efficiency limits have been met. there is no magic they run as they should or dont and suffer. the new-to me- rig is 6.2 with 4.30gears. i was happy as hell with 15mpg running down I5. (yeah the last one i had with 373 i was able to eek out 17mpg, wasn tthe same trip at the same time) but its also new to me and the first tanks are always best, until i dont care anymore and run it. even the last 6.2 373 then 4.56gears that i ran the same time as the 5.4 3.73gears... they got the same milage doing the same job. one did it easier. i'm adjusting my expectation of the rig, not the mpg anyomore. same reason i wont be changing any rear end gears ever again for mpg. i will change them if i need to, to help the trans. but dont run big gay lift and tires on anything anymore.:flipoff2:

10mpg out of a loaded rig at 85mph? gas or diesel, gotta be kidding me? only in the best of conditions

on these new of rigs the only real difference i've ever been able to nail down is the mpg unloaded. and if thats the goal... yous already made bad decisions. and the only way to compare a loaded avg is side by side. i've been doing allot of that recently. i'll take damn near any newer rig with reliability. the mpg dont get better just the ease of doing the job.
