What's new

My visit to the E.R....

That's how this shit starts. I've studied examples like this, where patients soon after died.
What do you think that they did with the seven viles of blood that they took? They didn't tell me, or I forgot. They sent me a portal link, but it's dead. The paperwork they gave me doesn't have any of that information on it.

Would they be looking for plaque or blood clots in that?

My old man is susceptible to TIAs. He was taking what I imagine was an epic shit, washed his hands then collapsed in the hallway.

Doc said him and mom has to be aware of the symptoms of an oncoming TIA but otherwise should be fine as long as he stays on top of it.

Glad to hear you're doing alright man

They're looking for everything and anything.

Triglycerides; cholesterol levels
Troponin; cardiac events
Electrolytes; blood acid balance
Platelet count; red n white cells

Urea
Neutrophil
Ionized calcium serum

... the list goes on and on.

They're covering all bases. You were released and not admitted so, troponin is essentially good. CT and EKG were to rule out heart sinus node issues, vessel bursting / hemorrhage so you aren't going to croak or they would've admitted you.

Portals are imperfect, they should have provided you a number to reach the IT help desk to log you in. If not, call the hospital main number line, and go from there. They've been through this shit before.

Once you gain access to your portal, all the doctors notes/findings, CT analysis etc and blood test results will be there. All of it.

As well as padding the bill.

Not nice to read this as a first thread after a while away from here :frown:

Geez man, keep getting that stuff checked out. But like a lot of us we can’t be bothered unless something stops working completely. This is not good, go in.

As others have said, could be stress/pressure related.

When I was between 13 and 16 I got these horrible ocular migraines once a week in stages. A blank hole in my vision first then after a few minutes the mutha fukka of all headaches would lay me out for the rest of the day/night. Evil pain. It went away on it’s own. Turns out it was brought on by the excitement of weekends and fun things.

Then had a daughter who unfortunately got them at the exact same age. Same deal, when she was hyped up about doing fun stuff like school camps or fun things she’d get a blind spot and bammm, worst head ache imaginable.
One day in particular we were all off to go camping, she went quiet in the back then started crying, the blind spots came and she knew what was coming … that shit is heartbreaking to witness. ASAP you need to lie down in the darkest room possible and hope to fall asleep reaaal quick with a cold wet face washer on your forehead.

She is passed those now thankfully. Crazy how she inherited it from my side.

Is this happening during an exciting or stressful period in your life? Hoping this is it man, and you come out of it

That's what I thought/ think.
I know if I swing a hammer for 8 hours, my right arm is going to be in pain and tingling for two days. But I've probably got 20 more years of beating the crap out of myself then you. My opinion, take your education, and put it to work behind the pencil.

My most joyful activity is drilling. I would much rather be running a rig that pushing a pencil.

I totally understand. But as a guy 20ish years ahead of you...well....take that for what you will. I.e. the advice is worth what you've paid for it. That said if stuff feels off go to the er. You've got kids so you need to stay healthy.

Blood work is key moving forward. It helps professionals (in your future) understand what your baselines are doing. Meaning, since your going to be seeing a Dr you can expect blood panels to be done at approx 90 day intervals just to start, maybe greater time in between them but still, routinely.

Blood workups will suggest to your Dr what changes you should make, supplements you "could add" to daily regimens, dietary changes you "should perform" to get those baselines in check, and lastly... but most importantly referrals to specialists should he/she decide you have condition(s) that need addressing STAT!

Referrals to outside practitioners are basically cake. A neurologist to look at migraines, imaging done, a cardiologist for a heart condition maybe, more imaging done, a physical therapist for ROM testing etc. It's all SOP and shouldn't be a complete drag at all, except for the inconvenience of appts.

I will add that when you DO see panel findings from those 7 vials, they will show in bold type or highlighted with numerical ranges, where your numbers are OOR (out of range). Those OORs are important to consider as being indicators of your recent PAST guidelines and your near FUTURE guidelines of what's wrong in your blood/body.

Take it easy man, I know you work hard.

What’s your diet like besides the energy drinks?

Like Trampas is saying bloodwork is key

My girlfriend had some blood sugar issues that threw all western medicine for a loop. Went as far as sitting us down telling us they thought she had leukemia. She changed her diet, which wasn’t bad before, and it passed.

She was passing out, delirious, would get all sorts of wild mental confusion etc. All because her blood sugar was swinging dangerously low

Diet and exercise, has a lot to do with your bloodwork. So those three things.

trampas is on point, once you get a baseline it's an annual or semi annual deal and relatively painless

Normally a couple cutie oranges and 1/2 cup of pecans for lunch. Some kind of meat and rice or potatoes for dinner. Preferably Mexican food. A candy bar or candy for dessert.

Sounds great.

Glad you made it back ok. Thanks for keeping us posted. Gonna need you to stick around

If you're doing meat and potatoes for dinner almost every night, or a frequent mexi diet, those foods would often suggest a potential high LDL count in bloodwork. LDLs are bad cholesterol (low density lipoproteins) ... but if you've managed to maintain HDL's (good chol.) then it may be moot.

HDLs carry LDLs away from arteries and the heart and back to the liver where they get broken down over time.

If they find you have a high LDL count, a Dr may have you take statins to correct it but dietary changes are still necessary.

I love my greasy tacos as much as the next guy but i almost always prepare them at home :pinky: and only 2~3 times a month at max.

How old are you? Your life sounds a lot like mine. Energy drinks, coffee, snacks and meat diet! Nah I eat a bit better than that sometimes...

Haven't had a primary care physician since I was 18 and on my parents health insurance. Same with going to the dentist. Wife made me an appointment the other day so I begrudgingly went. Have a few cavities and need my wisdom teeth removed. It had been 20 or 22 years since I was last at the dentist.

A lot of great advice, also didn't know Trampas was an RN:flipoff2:

Make incremental changes following the blood work labs.
Cut down on energy drink crap, there is green tea and bunch of other natural stuff much better for you.

Also try to switch to fish/chicken/turkey/cut carb intake and see how that works out for you.

As others have said we need our wookie, little cutie pie needs her papa.

It's all that damn hair pulling on the brain bucket.
Seriously, get a doc and take care of yourself.
Whatever needs to be done!

Mothefukle got some nice hair. Wish I had that hair line. I'm running a solid nineheadover here :homer::laughing::flipoff2:

In all seriousness, hope they figure it out, and life is normal for you
