The vanity style and top edge are super dated, but definitely impressive on the carpentry side. Though personally I like a nice stained quality wood cabinet, they're overdue for a comeback Even higher end cabinets aren't built that well these days until you get into luxury brands or custom work.

This style has been around for a thousand years, so it's definitely dated. The whole bathroom is the opposite of trendy and modern.

The tile was finished today. They sealed the marble this morning before grouting. These pictures were taken with the grout still wet. It should lighten up in color to be a light gray. I'll give it a week or so for the grout and shit to cure before I seal the whole thing again?

Next up is finishing the walls and ceiling with some small dent repair, primer and paint. Then fixtures, vent install and vanity install. I gotta get the guys out here next week to measure for the glass panels.

I dig the bench but it looks like it is going to be a pain in the ass to clean around that leg once the glass goes up. Hope you either have a plan, or a housekeeper.

That's the housekeeper's problem. :flipoff2: There should be 2.5" between the bench and the glass on the back side. That's enough to get a hand or a squeegee between. But you're right, it will be a pain in the ass and I'm glad I'm not doing it.

Update on the bathroom. Vanity is in, countertop installed, plumbing, fixtures and crown all in. I'll wait until after the glass is in before I install the toilet. It's too tight in there to move glass around it. The glass showed up today to be installed but they had some chips in the edges so I had to send it back.

The shower pictures are after testing the plumbing, so the grout is wet and darker. I haven't sealed the grout yet, only the tile.

Today I had time to notch the drawers around the plumbing. Now that the drawers are clearanced, I'll add vertical pieces to keep crap contained and edge banding where needed. This was a massive exercise in plunge cutting with the table saw. It was the only way I had to keep my cuts straight and clean. The tape was to prevent tear out.

The top drawer ended up being too close to the sink so I had to notch the face of the drawer box. The outer face will be untouched, but I need to stain the inside around the notch before putting it back in. The sink butted right up against the back of the face frame. :homer:

Why not just put the face on and have it not open? Seems like A LOT of work for no real gain.

Because I can. There is gain, just not a lot, and more than none at all. Notching the drawers was expected before I bought up the lumber. The only thing I didn't expect was for the sink overflow drain to be where it is.

Not knocking you, its awesome work! Just WAY more than I have the energy for anymore. There was a time... many many moons ago...

Nice work! Notching really is worth the effort and this will force you to keep the drawers organized. I just did the same thing under our kitchen sink.

Thanks! When we redo our kitchen cabinets, there won't be lower cabinets anywhere. Just drawers. My wife bitches all the time about losing stuff in the back.

Stealing this for a future project.

Why the fuck don't more houses have this? The under sink "cleaning supply" cabinet is the biggest bermuda triangle in every house I've owned.

I wish I had gone with drawers. We got the slide out shelf's and they take up a lot of room.

My last house had almost all draws for the lower cabinets and it was pretty kick ass. I would suggest keeping 1-2 cabinets with doors for those heavy or awkward items that wouldn't work in a draw. I know I was happy to have a spot for things like my pile of cast iron pans and a few pots that wouldn't fit anywhere else.

I got the drawers finished this morning. Cleaned up the edge banding on all the raw edges and a few coats of spray polyurethane. Pull hardware should be here in another week or two. I've got 15 hours in notching these drawers.

God bless you. I wish I had the drive to do that anymore. That came out awesome, but at this point in my life I could never dedicate the time to it. I wish I knew what I know now, when I was younger!

I get it. Generally I wouldn't have time for something like this either, but I'm still working remotely from my main job and have a shit ton of free time.

My wife just got pregnant with our first spawn so my free time will be cut significantly in another 7 months or so. :smokin::smokin::smokin:

The guest bathroom is finally finished. It only took about 7 months but who's counting.

I've been using it for a week or two and love it so far. I wouldn't change anything. All the marble was sealed prior to grouting and I resealed everything before using it. I used GranQuartz 413S which is a silicon based impregnator. It seems to be working fine. No staining or discoloration after a dozen showers. Time will tell though.

Pardon the vertical photos, it was hard to capture anything horizontally.
