Was thinking he could make some money off this situation somehow, from how viral it went to public speaking to patenting t shirts, podcasts etc.. but than realized he was a drunk idiot who held a firework, (that was given to him) and seriously wounded another.. my guess, like any smart group of people in this situation, has kept everything 100 percent close to the vest in a very serious way.. they know who handed him the mortar, they know everyone's name in this group and all have agreed to keep there mouths shut, dude get shrapnel in his chest, but the guy who did it losses a hand, dude handed to him was a friend and didn't mean to do it, accident and these guys aren't sue happy people and just equate it all to an accident especially after the cops are now involved. . Been around a similar (not as bad everyone was fine, bad concussion) situation where cops wanted lawsuits and arrests, parents agreed to let it go to not ruin there lives more.. this is my guess at least
