Yep, I bought one online and picked it up in store. My brother owns 3 Napa stores and told me to buy it online because it's cheaper than he gets it for, but he gets some sort of credit from Napa if I bought it online. So that's what I did. I'm impressed with it, and I think I paid $85 for it

Voyager tool bag from HF, 25 pocket, $14.99 not on sale fits the compressor like it’s made for it. Is actually higher quality than the one they supplied with the compressor :homer:

A couple of quick-lock connectors I bought off fleabay. Work pretty good.

The connectors fit in the zipper pocket inside the zipper side pocket and the hose fits nice in the side pocket zipped up well. Good upgrade for stowing this compressor.

as an update to the crappy blue junkyard hyundai one I'd mentioned ITT, they don't seem to like reverse polarity, thinking there's a crowbar diode in there? Well, was.

Was powering the cigarette plug with a set of jumper cables off a bare battery and happened to put it together reverse polarity and it made a loud bang, smoked a bit. Still runs fine though. Either polarity. lol

Oh right, it only makes 60 PSI, just a compression ratio limitation and not any sort of relief valve stuff. That's somewhat of a downer, being that I fill everything to 80, unless it says 80 on the sidewall, then they get 100.

That reminds me, I grabbed the kompressor from a BMW X5 with air ride 2 years ago, I didn't give much thought to its psi capabilities... I should probably set it up and see what it can do.

Motivation, priorities and all.

I fabricobbled a cooling solution using a Spal 5.3" fan to cure my Viair heat soak blues:

The fan's been a rock star - no more thermal shutdowns and it cut 1-2 minutes off filling a 37 from 8 to 30 psi.
I just used a computer pancake fan and a Manny Moe and Jack breather for the inlet. Can close the lid, it's quiet and doesn't overheat.

Will pick one up. :smokin:

Why?

I thought you ran new-ish tires.

There's no reason to go substantially over-pressure unless you're trying to keep an old carcass from heating and flexing itself apart.

Picked this setup off of FB Marketplace last fall for 1/2 of MSRP.

The hoses are not as nice as the Moreflate setup, but the price was right.

Will see tomorrow how it does with the Maxi Trac.

Converted the Compressor to a standard female coupler because I hate those screw on tire inflators.

20220610_141501.jpg

I put a male plug into the coupler. so if the compressor is on it wont dead head against the coupler. With the screw on valve stem it always ran air when it was on, figured it may be better for it to do so. Cheap ins maybe.

Take the male fitting out, and quickly setup the inflator.

on my old setup I ran a t with a pop off valve set at 30 psi. Kept it from dead heading and also I could just hook up the air lines and let it run until I heard the pop off farting away. Got the tires up to about 28psi and was very consistent. I only did 30psi as it would be hot by that time and often cut out. I bet doing 4 at once it would go further.

I really like that. Stolen, thanks!

man those hoses must tangle up nice
I can barely keep one of them from turning into a knotted mess carrying it around

got any protips on avoiding that shit?

Dont use em?

Been in the bag since I bought it.

Update, mine fried the circut board. It now is hard wired on/off. It would run a second or so, then shut off.

Still works well as far as output.

I need to clean up the new wiring and put on on/off near the air fill. Either a switch or an air valve. Will likely go with an air valve like discussed prior to let it run but not dead head.

They haven’t been available and probably won’t be available again.

The Moreflate compressor is more expensive but nicer, there’s also the Thors Lightning compressor.
Yep. If it says “call for availability “ 99/100 it’s at the mfgr. Which also seems to mean “back order with no ETA”
My local store owner says NAPA corporate does this all the time with accessories-type stuff that people want. If enough dealers order it anyway or report the lost sale they may actually fill the order, but not always.

Nate bought one and loves it…. He’s done 3 different videos on upgrades and modifications for them…..

TLDR: if you can find one, buy it!!!!

You can do the mods in your shop while drinking beers!!!!!!
:flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:

Edit:
After his modifications that thing fills up a 39.5 in 1:48….. he’s talking about doing a fourth episode in this series :lmao::lmao: and pulling the bottom end apart!!!!

Thanks! I will go through those.

For the tinkerers out there I’d say this is great info. Probably going to do some of them myself.
For those who just want a good version of this compressor, I think 4x4toyotatyler and the MORRflate is the way to go. From what Tyler has explained about how he specs them build several of these mods are done for basically a $100 price increase. It looks like a day’s work to complete these mods, and (excluding the Anderson connectors) the extra parts bill is probably around $50 bucks. So, unless you like tinkering or your time is only worth $7.50/hr, go buy a MORRflate.
Tyler, not to turn this into a commercial for you, but could you compare your specifications to the modded Maxitrac in these vids? Also, anything you might change on a 2.0/platinum version of the TenSix, like, add some of these mods?

Do yourself a favor and just get rid of that hose all together. They look similar to the old red tsunami hose, which were a limitation on those. If these are as good as everyone says, I'm sure they are a limiting factor.

They get tangled pretty damn easy.

I haven't made any modifications to my maxi trac and it works great, however I hate the screw on end for the valve stems.. I'm thinking I'll add a coupler to the compressor itself and then make an air hose out of better material to attach it to the compressor. I believe the entire house assembly will just unscrew from the compressor itself, and a quick connect coupler can be screwed on in it's place.

I ended up getting this one. I've only used it once worked great.

And if you want to support vendors for this site (currently oos)

The Morrflate looks just like the one Trashman posted but 2x the $

Ya I watched the whole video. I’m talking about properly-sized fittings, pressure switches, etc. The speed is secondary to the improvements for longevity.
With enough nitrous the 4.3L in a ‘97 Chevy can make the same power as the 7.4L, but trying to do that every day for 5 years… Which one lasts longer? Many of these improvements and Tyler’s are meant to promote longevity. I can tell you an unmodified Maxi ain’t inflating that tire in 2 minutes. It’s fast but not that fast.

The best thing you can do for speed and longevity is a multi tire inflator setup. The valve core in a standard tire valve stem is too restrictive and makes 30-35 psi back pressure on the maxi. A multi inflator setup takes that extra load off the compressor.

I would agree, but there are many times you want to use this compressor for things besides off-road use. In those cases it's nice to have some improvements done in order to be able to use in a 1 tire application.

I must have missed the part in the video when he boosted the psi in the compression chamber and exposed it to high octane fuels!!!!
:flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:

All he did was put better lubricant on the cylinders walls and put fittings on it so it could breath better….. I don’t see how that would shorten the lifespan!!!!!
