What's new

Limey Bastard ~ 1974 F100 4x4 Resto

Great....thank you. It'll be awhile before I'm ready for the interior as I'll be sending the cab out for sand blasting this coming spring. If I can't find any stock ones, LMC it will be.

Thanks again.
I got a pair of black ones, and a plastic dash overlay from another company a couple years back..."coverlay" maybe? I'll poke around a bit. Decent quality, priced cheaper than anyone too

Soooooo. I finally went and picked up the bed. Took four of us to walk it out from behind a shed and a narrow path to chuck it on my little trailer then hauled it home and parked it. I am busier than a one armed man in a throat punching contest lately :flipoff2:

Hopefully I can start hitting it with the DA later this weekend and see what's what. I just need a tailgate now.

This dam thing needs as much or more body work as the cab did. Oof... oh well, at least it's a starting point, and I can't bitch about the price.

I also found this aftermarket vintage cruise control set up from SEARS, made by Dana Corp. in the cab of the other truck. Still in the box with EVERYTHING there and in sealed packages... I am half tempted to try it out.

So the parts truck bed after a thorough inspection and an hour with the DA and grinder is looking more and more like a shitty bed to try and bring back to life... ergo I am stuck looking for a bed again for now. I now have to fawkered beds in my yard.

I have a ton of stuff to trade up for a straight bed if theres any interest in a trade somewhere fairly close by.

:homer:

Any of that stuff include a 4wd front clip?

I found one today, 72yo man, I'm gonna fix it:laughing:

Awesome! I can't wait to see the finished product.
I wish I still had my 78 short bed 4x4, 351M with a 4 spd

I guess the bed is salvagable,,, but dang it will take a ton of work. I have to strip it all down, that includes the incredible amount of old skool bondo and repair a bunch of holes from a dent puller. It was major amatuer hour with whomever did the work last on this bed. And I NEVER do work on top of old crap repairs. I will just continue to hit it unless a decent bed comes up.

I finally rolled the shitty bed in the garage and have started some body work on it. I spent some time pulling and hammering the worse of the major dents out, then taking some oil canning out from the passenger side.

Also have been welding ALL of the dam holes in the bed. I stopped counting after 100. Dam mud monster attacked this thing probably in the 90's or so with a gallon and a half of Bondo and an old school dent puller that used screws and a slide hammer. Complete fawkin mess... but it is getting straightened out slowly but surely. Apparently any straightish beds in my area are complete unobtanium. So this gets all the time and effort chucked at it now. STILL looking for a straight tail gate.

Several areas to weld up...

Getting fairly straight with some hammer and dolly work though:

Definitely needs a ton more work. I am guessing I will be in to this jalopy for close to 100 hours before it gets painted.

only 100 holes? meh I have you beat on my 72. weld grind repeat.

or just buy some new skins and slap em on :grinpimp:
I stopped counting at 100... There's at least a 160~ ish. And this is a bed with NO trim.

I did the math on new bedsides, and by the time they are shipped and here it's well over 1600 bucks. The two skins are 720 dollars, and shipping is 900 bucks.:homer: WTF!? Nah- I'm good.
