What's new

Java does a Cabin

It's working! Running a 2kw generator to run a 50w pump 🤣

Chipper was smoking last time we used it.... Definately blade change time. How close should I set the anvil? 2 business cards? It's a bitch to see down there, nut a huge gap now, but a little.

Gonna bring all the tools next week. I don't have the right allen key.

Also found some barbed wire wrapped around one of the blades

And this thing is great. And the 661 still fucks! I think I may get a shorter bar. 36" is a little silly some times.

Anyone have thoughts on knife to anvil clearance?

Edit:banit says .120. Mines about that. But the anvil edge is rounded off. Looks like a pita to flip. Calling it good for now.

oughta weld that groove up before it gets into the bolt holes and becomes slightly more difficult to weld up

Can't disagree..... But I don't have a welder out there.... And it's in one bolt hole already

Since I haven't updates in awhile.

The wheelchair is having issues. Doesn't like to run in reverse. It's odd. Totally fine in forward, shift to reverse and you can floor it and nothing engine is stuttering feels like it hits every few revs on on cylinder. Then will get a burst if power. Odd.

Put 9 sheets of 1/4" ply on the walls. A little more to do. Removed one mouse house and replaced the insulation. That was nasty.

Built more walkways in the swap and spent a bunch of time in the creek. It was hot AF.

So glad we have the big chipper! Wife and I got everything chipped. Except one little section we left as a "fence"

Wheelchair is awesome. May have overloaded it a bit.... About 6 rounds is max.

Lots to buck later.

Need to finish the stupid trailer so I can grab a splitter....

Let's see if this does anything! It's 100 out.... Really dry, like really scary dry.

Well. Shit. Brush mower down.
1000027461.jpg

Maybe it was loose on the shaft?

nah looks like a necked down shear bolt
shoulder would be fucked up if it were loose

bet the broke off bolt winds out real easy with a vise grips

Ah that very well could be. Engineered failure point.

From the manual the spindle appears to be one whole unit. Top and bottom stud, bearings and housing.

I don't know what you're trying to say
stop thinking
grab bolt with pliers and unscrew it

install fresh new SAE thread bolt without necked portion

Tried that. Not a bolt. Parts diagram shows It as one unit. Goes from the belt pully on the top, thru the bearings. It was a nut on the bottom.

Nut on top also.

I'm hoping it's under warranty still. We will see what they say Monday
wtf that's big gay and ain't no brush mower

doubt they're gonna warranty it but if they do, sell it immediately
even a finish mower should have replaceable shear parts

May need some Heat shield or hard pipe.... Silicone is dead.

Crazy thunderstorms yesterday. Dropped from 86 to 64 in an hour or so. No new fires close by luckily.

Bought a splitter. Homo depot wouldn't fork lift it into my trailer..... Really need to finish the flat deck trailer

Ha. Just use annealed copper for the first bit. Should be able to get a copper olive compression fitting to fit the thread in iron.
