I keep seeing these little delivery/milk/ice cream trucks around town all built differently (hot rodded out, etc). There's one in Laguna Beach that looks like the guy is using it as a mini RV.

Some neat yellow iron:

It's one of those swaps that sound great on paper...

And ain't worth a fuck in the real world.

I think they have their place but its not worth it for 90% of what they are swaped into.

Older 3/4 ton and one tons with smaller engine bays that can't fit a 6bt they work well. Have to have realistic expectations though its a tractor engine with max reliable hp around 350 and 600 ftlbs of torque. A ls is usually a better option 90% of the time.

4bt is the 4 cylinder of the 6bt aka 5.9, its a 4 cylinder '12 valve' ve pump engine.

If any if that helps.
I know . But a 4wd suburban is a lot of vehicle for a four cylinder to haul around .
Especially a four cylinder that’s the noisiest shakiest diesel ever made .

Not much better than the 6.2 diesel it came with .

Not really. I have a M715 with one ton driveline and 37s, that probably weighs more than that Suburban. It's not a rocket, but it's not lacking in power at all. It is surprisingly smooth, unless I lug the engine.

That's basically double the HP and Torque a stock 80s 3fitty gasser had though so YMMV literally.
